2020.10.22 21:11 badgerbouse [Article] Which Stars can see Earth as a Transiting Exoplanet?

Link: https://arxiv.org/abs/2010.09766

Abstract:
Transit observations have found the majority of exoplanets to date. Spectroscopic observations of transits and eclipses are the most commonly used tool to characterize exoplanet atmospheres and will be used in the search for life. However, an exoplanet's orbit must be aligned with our line of sight to observe a transit. Here we ask, from which stellar vantage points would a distant observer be able to search for life on Earth in the same way?
We use the TESS Input Catalog and data from Gaia DR2 to identify the closest stars that could see Earth as a transiting exoplanet: We identify 1,004 Main Sequence stars within 100 parsecs, of which 508 guarantee a minimum 10-hour long observation of Earth's transit. Our star list consists of about 77% M-type, 12% K-type, 6% G-type, 4% F-type stars, and 1% A-type stars close to the ecliptic. SETI searches like the Breakthrough Listen Initiative are already focusing on this part of the sky. Our catalog now provides a target list for this search. As part of the extended mission, NASA's TESS will also search for transiting planets in the ecliptic to find planets that could detect life on our transiting Earth as well.

2020.10.15 13:40 Heru_Ur The Bearded God, the Serpent of the East and the Isis bloodline

The Bearded God, the Serpent of the East and the Isis bloodline
Priests of Isis' UrReUs religion were telling Plutarch in the first century CE that they had missionaries out carrying the arts of civilization to the whole world in their ancient history.
Civilization in AmUrReica probably began due west of the furthest part of AfUrReica, Dakar.
Neolithic Beardless Asians do not look like the stone heads.
"The earliest civilization in Central America—and possibly the earliest civilization in the Americas—was the Olmec civilization which arose sometime between 1200 and 1000 BC. They originally lived in the Gulf Coast region of southern Mexico, but soon expanded into Guatemala. . ."
"The most dramatic achievement of the Olmecs was the building of massive stone heads. We aren't sure who is represented by these heads, but archaeologists believe that they may be Olmec kings. . ."
"Around 300 BC, the Olmec vanished for reasons that vanished with them. We do know, however, that much of their culture and social structure was absorbed by other peoples. The Olmecs, as far as we can tell, are the first chain in the development of Mesoamerican culture."
(Richard Hooker, Washington State University)
These helmet heads are Africans, minions of Isis, The ships were mainly muscle powered. The odd one has a smirk but most look like dead serious homo sapiens.
I agree with National Geographic that an Olmec Indian whose ancestors had migrated to Central America from Siberia down the west coast of North America, and which people had never seen or heard of bearded men in the history of their race, couldn't possibly have created this bearded image from imagination.
"The Olmec were Mesoamerica's first civilization. They were located in Laguna de los Cerros, tres Zapotes, San Lorenzo, La Venta, and the Tuxtla Mountains, in Mexico. . ."
"The Olmec were a mother culture to later civilizations. The culture of the Olmec started in Mexico's Gulf Coast between 1200 and 1400 B.C , approximately between the Trojan War, and the golden age of Athens, and ended about 3000 years ago. . . Perhaps the most spectacular trait of the Olmec were that they used hieroglyphs. They used hieroglyphs to record dates, events, and to tell stories." George E. Stuart, New Light on the Olmec, National Geographic Nov. 1993
This is what the indigenous Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Guatemalan people look like today. Their ancestors migrated down the west coast of North America from Siberia many generations ago. Why would they look more like Africans thousands of years ago when they were closer to their roots than they do now? That doesn't make any sense at all.
Note the stylized beard of Itzamna and its similarity to the stylized beard of Pharaoh Ramses II. Ramses II was Pharaoh of Egypt at about the time of Itzamna's arrival in Central America and the dawn of the earliest civilizations there. Ramses II, son of Seti I and Queen Tuya, was the third king of the 19th Dynasty.
He reigned as Pharaoh for 67 years (1279-1213 BC).
The image to the left is Itzamna arriving from the east paddling a canoe (c. 1200 BC). The image to the right is the galleon of Ramses III (c. 1175 BC). The Maya used canoes. They didn't have ships. Notice the row of \"wings\" along the side of the canoe that Itzamna is paddling. The Mayan artist who made this image had almost certainly never seen a ship. The artist was probably working from a verbal description of a \"canoe\" with rows of oars along the sides and sails that enabled it to \"fly\" before the wind.
The bearded god, Kukulcan, of Chichen Itza probably represents a later "incarnation" of Itzamna.
Kukulcan was "The Maya supreme god, to whom the Maya attributed many functions. Not only was he a god of the four elements, he was also a creator god and the god of resurrection and reincarnation. He originated from Toltec myth, where he was a divine hero who taught the Toltecs laws, fishing, healing, the calendar, and agriculture. He emerged from the ocean, and disappeared in it afterwards." (Mica F. Lindeman in Encyclopedia Mythica, 2002)
A bearded image of Kukulcan displayed alongside of Kukulcan pyramid at Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico.
The biographical sketch of Kukulcan from the Encyclopedia Mythica matches very well the story of Itzamna. Both stories match very well the legend of Assur as written down by Herodotus, Diodorus, Plutarch and others.
This vase with the bearded face is from the Mayan \"Old Empire\" (c.430 AD). This Mayan figure from Honduras may be Itzamna in his youth. It could be Itzamna by a different name. Or it could be a different ancestor altogether. The Maya were divided into numerous tribes who spoke different languages. They all shared some common ancestors, while at the same time they had different ancestors. The different names of their deities may represent different entities, or they may represent the same entities by different names. Despite their different genealogies, different languages, and different cultures, the pre-Columbian civilizations of Central America shared a common bearded plumed serpent deity now most commonly known as \"Quetzalcoatl.\"Pagan religion was \"ancestor worship\" religion. The original ancestors were Assur, Isis, and Heru. Pagan religion over the world was not as uniform as is Christianity or Buddhism. Different cultures around the world had different ancestors and different cultural traditions before they came into contact with Pagan culture and genealogy. Different cultures around the world continued to have different ancestors and different cultural traditions after they came into contact with Pagan culture and genealogy. Nevertheless, they were Pagan descendants of the Genesis of Isis.
Pagan religion made no distinction between genealogy, religion, and politics. Paganism was an ancestral religion that was the basis of political power, and political power originated from genealogy. However, genealogy diffuses over time and is no match for military might. Through conquests, merging civilizations, changing languages, and changing dynasties, the ancestral pantheons of ancient cultures were ever branching and growing. They are often very confusing.
The Egyptian Judgement Scene Isis the Two-Eyed Serpent Goddess assisting Assur
Heru, the born king and middleman petitioning the Bearded God, Assur for the human.
This carved wall panel from a Mayan temple in Central America is a Mayan version of the classical Egyptian Judgment Scene. They contain common elements.
The Asps (s) are Vipers (z) much more horiZontal strike pose
The bearded judge and the arm of a supplicant are nearly a perfect match in both scenes.
Itzamna, Kukulcan, and Quetzalcoatl were all bearded "Plumed Serpent" ancestral deities. They all shared the common Egyptian Pagan ancestry of bearded Assur, Isis, the "Serpent Goddess," and Heru, the "Hawk God."
Pagan dragons were worldwide.

2020.09.16 04:58 OpinionatedIMO ‘The final consultation of the oracle’

I
“Steve just told me that forward production has come to a full halt because of a re-routing issue! Why exactly do we have to change the tunnel vector? Didn’t the geologist team sign-off on this as the best possible bore path for the subway? If we alter the trajectory, there’s a very real possibility we may miss the other side of the connection.”
“Yes, it was the best path but things have apparently changed. They found ‘something’ last night.”
“Something? What does that mean?”
“The night crew backed the boring machine out slightly to change a worn-out grinding tooth. When they did, they discovered some mysterious ‘thing’ directly in front of it. Whatever it is, management called the local authorities to determine what it is. They in turn, called in dozens of government ‘experts’ to examine it.
From that moment on, all forward progress has been officially halted; per Hodges. Apparently, our only choice is to back up a quarter mile or so, and adjust the direction. You can bet the old Man was furious about such a costly delay but there’s nothing he can do about it. There’s nothing anyone can do. It’s a federal matter now. There are more abbreviations walking around down there than you can shake a stick at.”
“Abbreviations? Huh? What do you mean?”
“You know. NSA, FBI, CIA, Homeland security; that sort of thing. Hell, I bet they even have NASA down there by now. It’s a madhouse of stuffed suits and laminated badges.”
“Damn! Where did this ‘thing’ come from?”
“I don’t think any of them know for sure but I overheard one of them talking about it. He told another guy that it’s definitely not of human origin; whatever that means. They hushed up as soon as they realized I was nearby. It’s a big deal, whatever it is. They have a specialized mining crew working to extract it with lasers and proprietary removal bits.”
“Think we’ll get a look at it before they haul it off?”
“I doubt it seriously. They wouldn’t even let me get my lunch from the break room. They sent a guy down there to pick it up for me. I’m sure it’ll be hauled out in a protective, ‘top secret’ crate.”
“Sheesh! Who on night shift found it? I’m really curious about it now.”
“I think it was Gary. He was on the maintenance roster last night. You can bet he has already been sworn to secrecy but a few shots of whiskey would loosen his tongue. He’s a regular chatty parrot after a few belts. If you wanna know bad enough, that’s the way to go about it.”
“Yep!”; The two men laughed. Gary would confess to the Kennedy assassination if he was offered enough booze.
II
“Gentlemen, what do we know about this thing so far?"
“Ahem."
“Excuse me, Dr. Haji. Ladies AND gentlemen." The roughly egg-shaped object is mechanical in nature from what we can tell. It is of unknown purpose, and fabricated from incredibly dense, non-terrestrial materials. It has a series of complex glyphs around its contoured base that we are working around the clock to translate. All attempts to X-ray or probe it using available imaging methods has proven fruitless. It is impermeable by all known scanning technology."
“I see. That's quite an eye opening report, Dr. Haji. So this is definitely an authentic alien artifact? Wow. I know the scientific community would be thrilled to learn that life on other planets has been confirmed, if it wasn't so highly classified. Do we know if it is a weapon, or some sort of interstellar probe? More importantly; how did it get inside solid rock, 27 meters below the surface? Lastly, am I correct in thinking that there are no natural openings or fissures in the vicinity of where it was discovered?"
“Yes, that is correct. It was encased in solid rock and compressed soil sediment. At this early juncture, we can offer no definitive answers as to its intended purpose, origin or construction. All we can say with a high degree of certainty is that the object isn't a naturally occurring formation and the elements are not terrestrial. From that, my fellow researchers at SETI concluded that it is definitely from an alien world. Until we can probe inside it or decipher the exterior glyphs, our research on this extraterrestrial relic with be highly limited and theoretical."
“So you have no working theories on how it came to be in the middle of the ground, Dr. Haji?"
“It is possible that the object was deposited or landed on the Earth's surface millions of years ago. Figuring a constant rate of topsoil expansion per thousand years and dividing by 27 meters; we could calculate a relative date of arrival, based on that 'cover-up' hypothesis. Honestly though, it would be wild conjecture. We'd rather not explore any scenarios until we have more concrete data to go on."
“Understood. Please update us once you have made some progress. Is there any material support we can offer your team?"
“The number of qualified, linguistic cryptologists with official government clearance is quite limited. There are a couple individuals I would like on my team to help with the translations. Will you issue them proper security clearance so I can approach them?"
“Are these individuals U.S. citizens?"
There was a long, pregnant pause until Dr. Haji broke the awkwardness. "No Director Benson, they are not Americans. Do you want me to inquire If they are 'terrorists'?"
“I don't think THAT will be necessary, Dr. Haji."; The Director was not amused at her sarcastic tone. "Just send me their personal information and academic credentials so I can do a thorough security check. National security is always our top priority, Doctor." III
“Ok. Dr. Haji. I understand you have made some significant breakthroughs in the past couple of weeks. Everyone in the room is sitting on the edge of their seats. Please. Tell us about the mysterious object."
“Based on our translation of the glyphs, the extraterrestrial object could best be described as an 'oracle'. The biographical saga in the text is the complete history of life. It explains that ancient beings set out to develop planetary ecosystems in ideal climates across the cosmos. The Earth was one of these 'Genesis terrariums'. Each of the settlements were set-up with the essential building blocks needed for life to thrive. They were also given one of these devices to use for difficult problem solving when the proper time came. Obviously they were meant to be discovered after each civilization evolved enough to understand how to use it."
“Amazing! Simply amazing! So, there are countless other life forms spread across the universe. All of which are just 'sprouting' and developing in their own separate worlds; and each within an individual microcosm. Redundancy is nature's way to insure life survives in some form. Scientists have noted this principle time and time again.
“I must commend your entire team for their impressive work in unraveling the great mystery of life, Dr. Haji. It answers so many questions about mankind and our primordial origins! Do the glyphs mention if we will ever get to meet these wandering 'Johnny Appleseed' pioneers who forged the foundation for human life?"
“Thank you Director Benson. Based on our understanding of the creation saga in these revealing texts, I would say no. 'They' are long gone and only supplied us this assistance device, In lieu of their beneficial presence. Logistically, these fertile growth zones are probably too far apart to maintain a constant connection with all their creations. We are but one of many floating seeds in the solar winds. We are eternally on our own."
“I see; but we do have this precious tool from the 'gods', as a type of surrogate or 'babysitter'. Do you have any idea how to access or control the 'oracle', Dr. Haji? What sort of issues or problems can it help us with? More importantly, what are its limitations?"
“Some of the nuances of the glyphs are still confusing but the immense power it commands is not in question. It has an unlimited capacity to solve specific global issues but there is a very important detail I must explain. It can ONLY be consulted three times. After all of the requests are made, they will be granted and then the device will be nullified. The requests are non-reversible and absolute. A precise syntax and format must be followed when seeking its help. Each formal request must be crystal clear and not open to interpretation. For this reason, we strongly advise an international team of experts be assembled. We must study the best way to request and use those limited number of 'favors'. The capacity for misuse or waste is too high to..." “So, it's similar to a mythical Persian genie? Three wishes are granted when you 'rub the lamp'?"
“That's a considerably oversimplified analogy but it is basically accurate. It was provided with the understanding that it wouldn't be used until we had evolved enough to operate it properly. The oracle is a source of unimaginable power. It can make three important goals a reality. In turn, our requests from it must be well thought-out and the oracle must only be invoked using the precise rules dictated in the text." "Of course Doctor. Of course. We wouldn't just rattle off three mindless wishes on a whim. The oracle will only be consulted after an international committee agrees on the best course of action." IV
“We come before you, the sacred oracle of the founders, to invoke our first request. We ask that all hydrocarbon damage to the ozone layer of our atmosphere be reversed back to ideal living levels." The international chairman of the oracle committee performed the necessary rituals and waited impatiently to see what would happen.
Within minutes, the entire planet was a paradise of sparkling clean air and smog-free skies. For the first time in many years, citizens of metropolitan cities across the world could breathe deeply without inhaling pollution and deadly carcinogens. Skylines were not obscured by the opaque fog of factory smoke and automobile exhaust.
Without a doubt, the first consultation between man and the ancient problem-solving tool was successful. The chairman had correctly followed all the procedures necessary for invoking the alien oracle. It was evident from the clean air overhead that his short-sighted request had been granted. In a short period of time however, the continued proliferation of fossil-fuel pollution started undoing the atmospheric cleansing. A far wiser request would have been for mankind to obtain environmentally harmless, transportation technology. The Earth would have rapidly cleansed itself once humanity stopped harming it.
With one precious 'favor' used up and gradually eroding, the committee members vowed to spend more time researching and deciding upon the remaining two requests. Around-the-clock guards had to be posted outside the top-secret location to prevent tempted individuals from squandering another of the requests. A double blind security system was in place to discourage rogue attempts by individual agents with clearance. After a long series of votes were cast within the determination committee, a new agenda was agreed upon for the second consultation. The chairman once again went before the oracle to make their new request. This time he felt they were fully prepared to ask for the most beneficial thing in the entire world. The best possible item had been decided upon through the rigors of the democratic process. V
“Again we call upon you; the wise oracle of the founders. We wish to invoke our second consultation on this important day. We ask for the end of aging and death for our species."
During the mandatory waiting period, humanity had ten long years to reflect on their failure to permanently end global warming. Forcing them to wait between oracle consultations was probably to prevent impulsive misuse. Much of the atmospheric healing from the first session had already been undone by a stubborn refusal to take better care of the planet. This time the committee was certain that their new request was completely thought out. Eternal life has been the dream of humanity since we were first able to comprehend the finality of death. In short order, the need for morgues and cemeteries was eliminated! Reflecting early into the next waiting period, the committee was quite satisfied with their second request. It seemed like the universal hope of mankind had been answered. Only when the birth rate continued to escalate, did they come to realize the downside of eternal life. With no one dying, food supplies and space to live in became increasingly scarce. Tensions grew exponentially in the first couple years. Panic from material shortages and global overcrowding created an oppressive atmosphere of hoarding and greed across the world. As the natural resources continued to dwindle, a type of malicious madness took hold of the expanding population. An insanity based on self-preservation over all else permeated humanity.
With the relative balance of birth and death rates toppled by another ill-conceived choice, the Earth was on a collision course with destruction. Warfare was both constant and futile. The victims of countless battles could still feel the pain of their mortal wounds. They just didn't die from them. Those gravely injured were trapped in the eternal limbo of the ill-conceived second consultation.
The dark time between the second and third consultation became known as the 'dawn of the angry'. There was an even greater escalation of hostility across the globe because of the immortality of man and his growing claustrophobic fear. The forests were cut down, the land had been raped of all its natural resources and misery and famine were in all corners of the world. Pockets of resistance fought back against the madness and injustice with reason but it was an uphill battle.
Near the end of the ten year hiatus in using the oracle for the last time, the remaining committee members waited desperately. They were in complete agreement of what to request and 'oracle day' could not come soon enough for them. At last it arrived and the chairman hurriedly entered the heavily-guarded location of the founder's all-powerful tool.
“Oh mighty oracle, we ask for an everlasting peace on Earth. We have grown weary of the eternal warfare, injustice and greed from our fellow man. Please use this final consultation to bring the Earth peace."
Immediately the oracle fulfilled its final order with both precision and analytical logic. There was an everlasting peace on the planet from that day forward. It eliminated the malignant disease of mankind. Soon the forests shall recover and the ozone hole will heal itself. Finally the Earth can thrive.

2020.09.16 04:53 OpinionatedIMO ‘Final consultation of the oracle’

I
“Steve just told me that forward production has come to a full halt because of a re-routing issue!

House of Woden
Tuatha de Dannan:
Before reading this article, one should first click on the link below, and read a previous article i wrote regards to the Tuatha de Dannan, and how the Tuatha de Dannan were likely the same tribe as the tribe of Dan, descended from Dan I.
Temple of Thoth
Bres 1477 BC:
Now, in this article, i am going to look in to who the ancestors or descendants of Dan I might have been.
I will begin with an Irish high king named Bres, from 1477 BC.
Bres, who is supposed to be the Son of a king named Balor, is regarded in Irish legends, to be amongst the first of the Tuatha de Dannan to arrive in Ireland.
Family
In Cath Maige Tuired Bres' parents were Prince Elatha of the Fomorians and Eri of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Alternately in The Fate of the Children of Turenn, Bres' father is Balor of the Evil Eye.[2]
Prince Elatha:
According to Irish mythology, Bres was the son of Prince Elatha, who was in turn, the son of the dagda.
However the Dagda appears to be too much of a euhemerical figure.
More like a holy father, type of wizard, than a paternal father.
Therefore, i am going to assume that his father did not have a penis so huge he dragged it along the ground, and that in actual fact, Bres paternal father was Balor, and not in fact Prince Elatha.
Balor
In Cath Maige Tuired Bres' parents were Prince Elatha of the Fomorians and Eri of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Alternately in The Fate of the Children of Turenn, Bres' father is Balor of the Evil Eye.[2]
Balor:
Now if Bres was born in 1477 BC, then his father Balor would have been born in at least the 1490's BC.
Now Balor, was in turn the son of Dot, who was in turn the son of Neit.
Therefore Neit would likely be from sometime around 1530 BC - 1540 BC.
Balor was the son of Dot son of Néit according to the Cath Maige Tuired (CMT),[4]
Neit:
Now, according to Irish mythology, Neit was a male god of war.
Neit
In Irish mythology Neit (Néit, Nét, Neith) was a god of war. He was the husband of Nemain and/or Fea, and sometimes of Badb.[1] Also grandfather of Balor, he was killed at the legendary Second Battle of Moytura.
Celtic name:
Now, according to contemporary scholars and historians, that believe Neit to be a mythological Celtic character, Neit is a Celtic name.
Etymology
The name probably derives from the proto-Celtic *nei-t-[2]
Neith hotep:
Now, i am not saying that the Egyptian pharoah named Neith hotep from approximately 3150 BC is the same Neit being described in Irish mythology.
The dates of 1530 BC and 1540 BC simply do not match up with Neith hoteps reign of approximately 3150 BC.
But contemporary scholars and historians do now still require to do a lot of back tracking, in convincing everyone that Neith, is not a Celtic derived name.
Also, even if Neith is the same person that Irish mythology is referring too, then Irish mythology made the same error that contemporary historians and scholars made, by assuming Neith was a man.
Neith actually turned out to be the first female pharoah, ever.
Neith-hotep
Neithhotep or Neith-hotep was an ancient Egyptian queen consort living and ruling during the early First Dynasty. She was once thought to be a male ruler: her outstandingly large mastaba and the royal serekh surrounding her name on several seal impressions previously led Egyptologists and historians to the erroneous belief that she may have been an unknown king.[2]
As the understanding of early Egyptian writings developed, scholars learned that Neithhotep was in fact a woman of extraordinary rank. She was subsequently considered to be the wife of unified Egypt's first pharaoh, Narmer, and the mother of Hor-Aha.[2] More recent discoveries suggest that Neithhotep might have instead been a spouse of Hor-Aha, and the mother and co-regent of successive ruler Djer. Archeological evidence also indicates that she may have ruled as pharaoh in her own right, and as such would have been the earliest known female monarch in history.[3]

Neithhotep writing
Other Neiths:
However the name "Neith" is a name which became deified, and other female princesses from the "Neithhotep lineage", assumed the name "Neith".
Therefore, it does not matter if Irish mythology is, or is not, referring to Neith-hotep.
Irish mythology is referring to Neith-hotep as the Tuatha de Dannans oldest known ancestor, of whichever Neith they are referring too, whether they like it or not.
Name
Neithhotep's name is connected to Neith, the goddess of war and hunting. This followed a tradition notably practiced during the first dynasty: many queens (such as Merneith/Meritneith, another possible female pharaoh and descendant of Neithhotep) and princesses (such as Aha-Neith, Her-Neith, Nakht-Neith and Qa'-Neith) also had names referencing the deity.[4]

Deity Neith
Narmer:
Now, Narmer has a major roll to play in this.
After-all, he was the husband of Neith Hotep, and was also a pharoah, and is credited with being the unifier of Upper Egypt, and lower Egypt.
Narmer
Narmer (Ancient Egyptian: nꜥr-mr, meaning "painful, "stinging," "harsh," or "fierce catfish;"[1][2][3] r. c. 3273 – 2987 BC) was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the Early Dynastic Period).[4] He was the successor to the Protodynastic king Ka). Some consider him the unifier of Egypt and founder of the First Dynasty, and in turn the first king of a unified Egypt.

Narmer

Libyan border:
Now contemporary historians appear to have missed something here.
They attribute the unification of Upper and lower Egypt to narmer, without taking in to consideration that this battle took place at the Egyptian/Libyan border, and depicted Narmer smiting a non Egyptian looking pharoah.
Therefore, this would suggest, that in actual fact, this was an invasion coming from foreigners that crossed in to North Africa over the straits of Gibraltar, and were actually invading and conquering lower Egypt, from Berbers from Libya, that had already invaded and conquered lower Egypt from native upper egyptians, and by the fact those foreigners were at the Libyan/Egypt border, would suggest that they had already conquered Libya, and so this "could" be classed as a unification of Libya and Egypt.
Wash)
He is known from the verso of the Narmer Palette found in Hierakonpolis, where he is depicted as a kneeling captive, "un-Egyptian in appearance",[2]#citenote-2) about to be smitten by Narmer.[[3]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wash(pharaoh)#citenote-heagy2014-3) The hieroglyphs carved near the captive – a harpoon) and a lake) – have been considered by scholars to be either a location name for the Harpoon nome (located in the Northwestern Nile Delta next to the Libyan borders) or the personal name of the captive, phonetically read as Washi or Wash.[[4]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wash(pharaoh)#cite_note-4)

Narmer smiting Wash
Berber:
Now this would explain why Neith has a Celtic name.
Scientists and anthropologists actually believe that during the younger dryas, Aryans moved south to escape the polar ice caps, and moved as far as Morocco, were they inter-bred with Afros, and actually created a new Afro-Aryan race, called Berbers, that went on to colonise North Africa, long after Aryans left Morocco to return North, though there may have been one group of Berbers named Saami, that decided to follow the Aryans back North.
This also means, that Berbers have also taken on some Celtic cultural connections, such as their trade relations with Celts during the Beaker culture.
This would also suggest, that Neith-hotep, was likely a Berber, and that is how Aryans managed to get to the border of Egypt, by marrying one of their cousins.
It would also explain how Neith-hotep has a Celtic name.
Pre-history and antiquity
Skeletal similarities have been suggested between the Iberomaurusian "Mechta-Afalou" burials and European Cro-Magnon remains. The Iberomaurusian was succeeded by the Beaker culture in Morocco.
Mitochondrial DNA studies have discovered a close link between Berbers and the Saami of Scandinavia. This supports theories that the Franco-Cantabrian refuge area of southwestern Europe was the source of late-glacial expansions of hunter-gatherers who repopulated northern Europe after the last ice age.[26]
Hor-Aha:
Now, it would not make sense that Narmer was the unifier of Upper and Lower egypt.
This is due to the fact that the son of Narmer and Neith-Hotep waged war upon Nubia and invaded upper egypt.
Also, it would not make sense that Neith-Hotep was a Nubian, as she was in co-regency with Hor-Aha, as Hor-Aha was too young when he took the throne, to make decisions, and it is unlikely that a Nubian, would partake in a campaign named "Smiting Nubians" if she was the Nubian queen of a unified upper and lower Egypt.
Activities outside egypt
Inscription on an ivory tablet from Abydos suggests that Hor-Aha led an expedition against the Nubians. On a year tablet, a year is explicitly called 'Year of smiting of Ta-Sety' (i.e. Nubia).[13]

Den:
In fact, the actual unifier of Upper and Lower egypt, was one of Neith-Hotep and Narmers grandchildren, Den.
Dens Mother, was also named "Neith".
Den#Beginning)
Den, also known as Hor-Den, Dewen and Udimu, is the Horus name of a pharaoh of the Early Dynastic Period) who ruled during the First Dynasty of Egypt. He is the best archaeologically-attested ruler of this period. Den is said to have brought prosperity to his realm and numerous innovations are attributed to his reign. He was the first to use the title "King of Lower and Upper Egypt", and the first depicted as wearing the double crown (red and white).
Merneith:
Merneith#Identity)
Den's family has been the subject of significant research. His mother was queen Merneith;

Mereruka:
Now, there is plenty evidence of white people in high positions of power in the Ancient egyptian empire.
I will give "one" example on this thread.
Mereruka
Mereruka served during the Sixth Dynasty of Egypt as one of Egypt's most powerful officials at a time when the influence of local state noblemen was increasing in wealth and power. Mereruka held numerous titles along with that of Vizier), which made him the most powerful person in Egypt after the king himself.[1]

Back to Balor:
Now, do you remember how this article began? It began pretty much with Balor.
An interesting fact about Balor, is apart from the fact he was described as a giant, he also only had one eye.
Death in battle
Though not stated outright, the supposition is that Balor here is a "one-eyed giant".[15]
Odin:
Now, interestingly, the Celtic god Odin, also only had one eye.
Odin
Odin (/ˈoʊdɪn/;[1] from Old Norse: Óðinn, IPA: [ˈoːðinː]) is a widely revered god in Germanic mythology. Norse mythology, the source of most surviving information about him, associates Odin with wisdom, healing, death, royalty, the gallows, knowledge, war, battle, victory, sorcery, poetry, frenzy, and the runic alphabet, and project him as the husband of the goddess Frigg. In wider Germanic mythology and paganism, the god was known in Old English and Old Saxon as Wōden, in Old Dutch as Wuodan,[2] and in Old High German as Wuotan.
Link for photo.jpg)
Odin
170 names:
Now, just as interestingly, Odin has 170 names.
I am sure he has just as many abbreviations.
Etymology
More than 170 names are recorded for Odin; the names are variously descriptive of attributes of the god, refer to myths involving him, or refer to religious practices associated with him. This multitude makes Odin the god with the most known names among the Germanic peoples.[8]
Baleygr:
Even more interestingly, one of his many names, just so happens to be Baleyg, which means shifty eye.
Names for Odin
Khamudi:
Now, the date of approximately 1495 BC given for the estimated birth of Odin, would be quite consistant with an event of biblical proportions that happened in Egypt, when a native Egyptian pharoah named Ahmose I, from the lower cataracts of Egypt, rose up in an uprising named the conquest of the Hyksos, and removed the current foreign rulers from power in Egypt, and expelling them.
Now, it is far from confirmed, but it is entirely possible, if not probable, that Khamudi might have had a wife that assumed the title "Neith".
Khamudi
Khamudi (also known as Khamudy) was the last Hyksos ruler of the Fifteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Khamudi came to power in 1534 BC[2] or 1541 BC,[3] ruling the northern portion of Egypt from his capital Avaris.[3] His ultimate defeat at the hands of Ahmose I, after a short reign, marks the end of the Second Intermediate Period.[4]
Dan I:
It is also extremely likely, that Dan I was born in the 1490's BC, and was in fact Odin, from the fictional house of Woden, though likely the factual house of Dewen, which is the tomb, Den, grandson of Neith, is buried in.
Dan I
Dan I was the progenitor of the Danish royal house according to Saxo Grammaticus's Gesta Danorum. He supposedly held the lordship of Denmark along with his brother Angul), the father of the Angles in Angeln, which later formed the Anglo-Saxons in England.

Dan I
Hittite empire:
Now it just gets ever more interesting.
In response to the invasion by Ahmose I, in to Mesopotamia, and heading North, the Hittite empire immediately responded by invading Mesopotamia in order to confront the native Egyptian army.
Hittites
Between the 15th and 13th centuries BC, the Empire of Hattusa, conventionally called the Hittite Empire, came into conflict with the New Kingdom of Egypt, the Middle Assyrian Empire and the empire of the Mitanni for control of the Near East.
Link for photo
Hittite empire
Indo-Aryan:
Now you are also likely aware that the Hittite empire was Indo-Aryan.
You might also be aware that the trigger for the war, was when Thutmose III invaded Mitanni territory, and the Mitanni kings were Indo-Aryan.
You are probably also aware, that at this point in time, there was no such things as"Indo-European", and Indo-european is a modern day politically correct term.
But in fact, the Hittite empire was also Indo-Aryan, and they came down hard to lend support to the Mitanni kings.
Mitanni
While the Mitanni kings were supposedly Indo-Aryan, they used the language of the local people, which was at that time a non-Indo-European language, Hurrian. Their sphere of influence is shown in Hurrian place names, personal names and the spread through Syria and the Levant of a distinct pottery type.

Summary:
It is likely, that the tribes of Dan, (Tuatha de Dannan) were Northern armies sent to fight the Egyptians and reclaim the territory that Ahmose I had reclaimed.

Destroyed Temple of Thoth
Ethriel:
In Irish mythology, there was an Irish high king named Ethriel.
Ethriel is supposed to have reigned during the same period that Samson was the king of the tribes of Dan.
Ethriel
Ethriel, son of Íriel Fáid, according to medieval Irish legends and historical traditions, succeeded his father as High King of Ireland. During his reign he cleared six plains. He ruled for twenty years, until he was killed in the Battle of Rairiu by Conmáel in revenge for his father Éber Finn, who had been killed by Ethriel's grandfather Érimón. He was the last of the chieftains who arrived in the invasion of the sons of Míl) to rule Ireland. The Lebor Gabála Érenn says that during his reign Tautanes, king of Assyria, died (1182 BC according to Jerome's Chronicon)), as did Hector and Achilles (the Trojan War is usually dated to the 13th century BC), and Samson was king of the Tribe of Dan in ancient Israel.[1] Geoffrey Keating dates his reign from 1259 to 1239 BC,[2]

Samson fighting a Lion
Tribe of Danaan:
Ethriel himself, was from the tribe of Danann, as he was a Son of Mil, who was a king of Spain, and as we have covered in previous articles, Iberia was a Celtic stronghold during this period. (see Beaker culture).
Milesians)
In the Lebor Gabála Érenn, a medieval Irish Christian pseudo-history, the Milesians (Irish: gairthear Mílidh Easpáinne) are the final race to settle in Ireland. They represent the Irish people. The Milesians are Gaels who sail to Ireland from Iberia (Hispania) after spending hundreds of years travelling the earth. When they land in Ireland they contend with the Tuatha Dé Danann

Sons of Mil
Tuatha de Dannan:
Now, the reason we know that Ethriel was from the tribe of Dannan, is because the Sons of Mil were the legendary Tuatha de Dannan, and the etymology of "Tuatha", means "People, tribe, nation".
Name
The Old Irish word tuath (plural tuatha) means "people, tribe, nation";
Superhuman:
Now the fact that many superhuman attributes get awarded to Tuatha de Dannan figures, perhaps makes the Tuatha de Dannan appear mythological.
However it is quite contemporary that during this period there was an Indo-Aryan empire known as the Hittite empire that was waging a serious assault on Egypt and it's surrounding vassal kingdoms, and those Hittites began to take on a super-human aura.
New kingdom
During the Hittite Empire period the kingship became hereditary and the king took on a "superhuman aura" and began to be referred to by the Hittite citizens as "My Sun". The kings of the Empire period began acting as a high priest for the whole kingdom—making an annual tour of the Hittite holy cities, conducting festivals and supervising the upkeep of the sanctuaries.[45]
King Thorri:
A good example of super-human legends comes from a Swedish mythological king named king Thorri from house of ynglings, who is supposed to be descended from Dan I.
About Thorri
King Thorri (Þorri 'frozen snow') was son of Snær ('Snow') the Old, a descendant of Fornjót ("king of Jotlandi (also spelled Gotlandi[2]), later known as Quennlandi and Finnlandi"). See Snær and Fornjót for further information. The name Þorri has long been connected with that of Þórr, the name of the Norse thunder god Thor, or thunder personified.[3]
A grandson of King Snow, and Frost before that, king Nór marries Hedda (Höddu) daughter of Svaða Jótun that may be seen as descending from the Scyldings, from the Kings of Lejre, the stronghold of the descendants of Dan) in Denmark.

Superman:
Another good example of self confessed supermen during this period, comes from Indo god of war, Subrahmanya.
Kartikeya (Sanskrit: कार्त्तिकेय, IAST: Kārttikeya), also known as Skanda, Kumara,[4], Murugan and Subrahmanya, is the Hindu god of war.[5]

Sea peoples:
Now during this period, several pharoahs, including Merneptah, carried out wars against a notorious naval group named the "sea peoples".
He described the sea peoples as "Northerners from all lands".
Campaigns
Merneptah had to carry out several military campaigns during his reign. In the fifth year of his rule, he fought against the Libyans, who— with the assistance of the Sea Peoples— were threatening Egypt from the west. Merneptah led a victorious six-hour battle against a combined Libyan and Sea People force at the city of Perire, probably located on the western edge of the Nile delta. His account of this campaign against the Sea Peoples and Libu is described in prose on a wall beside the sixth pylon at Karnak, which states:
[Beginning of the victory that his majesty achieved in the land of Libya] -I, Ekwesh, Teresh, Lukka, Sherden, Shekelesh, Northerners coming from all lands.

Merneptah
Merneptah:
Merneptah reigned 1213 and 1203 BC, so that would not quite put him within the 1259 to 1239 BC period given in Irish mythology for the reign of Samson.
Merneptah
Merneptah or Merenptah (reigned July or August 1213 BC – May 2, 1203 BC) was the fourth pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt.
Ramesses II:
The reign of Samson would have been during the reign of Remesses II:
Ramesses II
Ramesses II /ˈræməsiːz, ˈræmsiːz, ˈræmziːz/[5] (variously also spelt Rameses[6] or Ramses (Ancient Egyptian: rꜥ-ms-sw "Ra is the one who bore him" > Koinē Greek: Ῥαμέσσης, romanized: Rhaméssēs); c. 1303 BC – July or August 1213; reigned 1279–1213 BC[7]), also known as Ramesses the Great, was the third pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt.

Ramesses II
Battle against Sherden sea pirates:
Now the war between Egypt and the Hittite empire, was not a quick one, it carried on for hundreds of years, until the Hittites eventually collapsed the Egyptian dynasty, and therefore, Ramesses II was also called in to action against Sherden sea pirates.

In his second year, Ramesses II decisively defeated the Sherden sea pirates who were wreaking havoc along Egypt's Mediterranean coast by attacking cargo-laden vessels travelling the sea routes to Egypt.[20] The Sherden people probably came from the coast of Ionia, from southwest Anatolia or perhaps, also from the island of Sardinia.[21][22][23] Ramesses posted troops and ships at strategic points along the coast and patiently allowed the pirates to attack their perceived prey before skillfully catching them by surprise in a sea battle and capturing them all in a single action.[24]
Sea peoples:
Now let us just stop a moment, to make sure we are under no elusions as to how notorious the Sea peoples were.
The Sea peoples are actually blamed for the late bronze age collapse, and likely led to the downfall of the native egyptian dynasty, more than the pitch battles conducted by the Hittite army.
Sea peoples
The Sea Peoples are a purported seafaring confederation that attacked ancient Egypt and other regions of the East Mediterranean prior to and during the Late Bronze Age collapse (1200–900 BCE).
Tribe of Dan:
Now what happened to the survivors of those defeats that got captured?
Well, the Egyptians en-rolled them in to the Egyptian army, in return for donating them lands in vassal kingdoms.
What happened to those that escaped? Well, would they not have just went home? Perhaps made their way back to Ireland, via their Iberian strong-hold?
Now, the best theory for who the tribe of Dan is, is that they were captured sea peoples from the tribe of Dannan. Or tribe of Denyan, as referred to by the Egyptians.
Amenope
The Onomasticon of Amenope, or Amenemipit (amen-em-apt), gives slight credence to the idea that the Ramesside kings settled the Sea Peoples in Canaan. Dated to about 1100 BCE, at the end of the 21st dynasty (which had numerous short-reigned pharaohs), this document simply lists names. After six place names, four of which were in Philistia, the scribe lists the Sherden (Line 268), the Tjeker (Line 269) and the Peleset (Line 270), who might be presumed to occupy those cities.[79] The Story of Wenamun on a papyrus of the same cache also places the Tjeker in Dor at that time. The fact that the Biblical maritime Tribe of Dan was initially located between the Philistines and the Tjekker, has prompted some to suggest that they may originally have been Denyen.
Tribe of Dan:
Now, typical of a sea fairing people, the Denyans ended up settling in a coastal part of Israel.
Tribe of Dan
The Tribe of Dan (Hebrew: דָּן‎), meaning, "Judge", was one of the tribes of Israel, according to the Torah. They were allocated a coastal portion of land when the people of Israel entered the Promised Land, later moving northwards.

Tribe of Dan
Lived on their boats:
Now, the Danites are believed to have actually not bothered settling on the Danite mainland of Israel, instead choosing to just live in their boats.
Assumably in the harbours.
Characteristics
Their primary trade characteristic was seafaring, unusual for the Israelite tribes.[19] In the Song of Deborah the tribe is said to have stayed on their ships with their belongings.[20
The Danites left port at the fall of the Hittite empire:
Now, when the Assyrian empire rose up and defeated the Hittite empire, the Danites took off in their boats and did not bother to hang around and Help Israel defend themselves against the Assyrians, and they were never seen again.
Assyrian conquest and demise
As part of the Kingdom of Israel), the territory of Dan was conquered by the Assyrians, and exiled; the manner of their exile led to their further history being lost.

Dan I:
Now, i think common sense alone would suggest, that the Denyan, likely returned to Northern regions, such as Ireland and Denmark.
You know, regions that had been under the kingship of Dan I, when they first got sent to the near to middle east to stop the charge of Thutmose III, who was leading the Egyptian native army northwards at a high speed.
Dan I
Dan I was the progenitor of the Danish royal house according to Saxo Grammaticus's Gesta Danorum. He supposedly held the lordship of Denmark along with his brother Angul), the father of the Angles in Angeln, which later formed the Anglo-Saxons in England.

Samson:
Now this is not the end.
I now want to shift focus to Samson.
Conquest and territory
The most celebrated Danite was Samson, a Danaite judge from the period of settlement in the lands allotted by Joshua. Pnina Galpaz-Feller sees similarities between the story of Samson and Denyen tribal legends.[9]
Destroyed the temple of Dagon:
Now, Samson is attributed to have destroyed the temple of Dagon.
Samson
When the Philistines took Samson into their temple of Dagon, Samson asked to rest against one of the support pillars. After being granted permission, he prayed to God and miraculously recovered his strength, allowing him to bring down the columns, collapsing the temple and killing himself as well as all of the Philistines.

Pillars of Dagon
Temple of Dakka:
However, historically factually, the Temple of Dagon, was likely actually the temple of Dakka, in Nubia/Sudan/ancient egypt.
Temple of dakka
Ad-Dakka (Arab: الدكة, also el-Dakka, Egyptian: Pselqet, Greek: Pselchis) was a place in Lower Nubia. It is the site of the Greco-Roman Temple of Dakka, dedicated to Thoth, the god of wisdom in the ancient Egyptian pantheon.

Temple of Dakka
Temple of Thoth:
Now, in actual fact, it would not even be pertaining to the Temple of Dakka, as the temple of Dakka was only constructed in the 3rd BC, and was a reconstruction of earlier destroyed temples, in slightly different locations.
Now, dating back to the time of Ramesses II, there appears to be temple ruins from a location named Kubban, which is the earliest known temple of Dakka/Thoth.
Relocation
During the construction of the Aswan dam in the 1960s, the temple was dismantled and moved to the site of Wadi es-Sebua.[7] At the time of its removal, some reused stone blocks from Thutmose III, Seti I and Merneptah were discovered which originated from an earlier New Kingdom structure in or near Kubban.[2] The temple's pylon is now separated from the remainder of the temple due to the missing enclosure walls of the open court.

Nubia
Summary:
This would suggest, that the temple was likely destroyed by captured Denyan's fighting under Samson, for Ramesses II, during one of his Nubian campaigns, against the lower cataracts.
Campaigns in Nubia
Ramesses II also campaigned south of the first cataract of the Nile into Nubia. When Ramesses was about 22, two of his own sons, including Amun-her-khepeshef, accompanied him in at least one of those campaigns. By the time of Ramesses, Nubia had been a colony for 200 years, but its conquest was recalled in decoration from the temples Ramesses II built at Beit el-Wali[46] (which was the subject of epigraphic work by the Oriental Institute) during the Nubian salvage campaign of the 1960s),[47] Gerf Hussein and Kalabsha in northern Nubia. On the south wall of the Beit el-Wali temple, Ramesses II is depicted charging into battle against the Nubians in a war chariot, while his two young sons, Amun-her-khepsef and Khaemwaset, are shown behind him, also in war chariots. A wall in one of Ramesses's temples says he had to fight one battle with the Nubians without help from his soldiers.

Ramesses II in his War charriot
Summary:
Therefore, it is most likely that the Tuatha de Dannan, and Samson, were real historical figures, and Samson truly was a king that was involved in the destruction of a temple, but likely not in the location, nor environment, depicted in legends.
And Irish mythology, ties in perfectly with known contemporary history.
Though the story of Samson destroying the temple with his own super-human strength, is likely euhemerised from the true stroy of 408 BC olympic winner Polydamas of Skotoussa, who had quite literally won the title of hardest man in the world, after winning the pankratiast finals.
Pankratism was a sporting event were competitors fought eachother without rules.
So, unlike todays boxing events, pankratists were actually competing in real fights.
He apparently was killed whilst performing a heroic act of strength, when a roof caved in, and he held the roof up long enough for everyone else to escape, though he himself died.
Skotoussa is also thought to have killed a ferocious lion on mount Olympus with his bare hands.
Samson is also credited with this feat.
Therefore, superhuman acts achieved by Samson, are likely usurped from real stories connected with the Olympic gold medalist Skotoussa.

Polydamas of Skotoussa:
Polydamas of Skotoussa
Polydamas of Skotoussa (Greek: Πολυδάμας (gen.: -ντος) ὁ Σκοτουσσαῖος), son of Nicias, was a Thessalian pankratiast, and victor in the 93rd Olympiad (408 BC).
His size was said to be immense and the most marvellous stories are related of his strength (for example, how, without any weapons, he killed a huge lion on Mount Olympus, or how he stopped a chariot at full gallop). His reputation led Darius II of Persia to invite him to his court, where he performed similar feats.
In the end, Polydamas' strength could not prevent his demise. One summer, he and his friends were relaxing in a cave when the roof began to crumble down upon them. Believing his immense strength could prevent the cave-in, he held his hands up to the roof, trying to support it as the rocks crashed down around him. This gave enough time for his friends to flee the cave and reached safety, but Polydamas never got out and died.

Industry of accusation: how do websites publishing compromising material work? Yuri Mosha Experience.

Fake news technologies are becoming more sophisticated, partly owing to the support of Hollywood. Furthermore, the simplest methods of disinformation are getting more and more efficient. Izvestia has figured out why the oldest heads of this monster can never be chopped off.
“The oldest heads” are the websites containing compromising material, which make money from customers wishing to ruin lives of their competitors, and from these competitors willing to pay to remove from the Internet publications about themselves having different degrees of reliability.
And we are not even talking about such veterans of information warfare like the site compromat.ru, that was created in 1999, blocked in 2017 although still perfectly working, but rather short-living web pages that get created as quickly as then become deleted. Their editorial staff sometimes publishes damaging information not even at the request, but simply to keep up with other teams.
Kompromat as a business
Entrepreneur Yuri Mosha had to deal with compromising materials published on the Internet several times. According to him, back in the early 2010s, such things were done by single websites, unrelated to one another. Some of them positioned themselves as official mass media having editorial staff and real legal addresses. “At that time, we could fight it. We contacted that sites and threatened them with filing court claims. In most cases, it helped, because they were afraid of responsibility”, Mosha told Izvestia.
A new wave of compromising material against the entrepreneur who makes money by helping those wishing to move to the United States from the former Soviet Union countries, emerged two years ago. He tried to make a deal with the sites or to make pressure on them through lawyers. But this time it was all pointless: “Now this is big business, and there are groups that have hundreds of websites with dummy registrations”.
Photo: Screenshot
Mosha contacted several owners of websites containing compromising materials by mail. Some of them were ready to delete publications for $ 7,000, others — for $ 20,000. Ordering publication of material damaging a competitor is cheaper — from $ 50,000 to $ 5,000. “You send an e-mail. They answer: “No problem, here’s a bitcoin wallet, transfer the money and I’ll delete the post.” At the same time each group attaches a list of their sites to an email,” the entrepreneur said. He did not pay anything.
Photo: Screenshot
I found a dark PR man, whom I paid at the end, however, not for removing materials, but for his advice. First advise was: you should not pay anyone. As soon as you pay, they will understand that you are ready to do it, and you will keep paying for the rest of your life. And even if they play fair and delete you from one site, they will post you on 50 others. He told me: “You see, we all know each other, and we are retyping all publications. As soon as information appears on one resource, the robot transfers it to others. And if a person pays [an owner of one website containing compromising material], he will start to pay everyone”.
His second hint was that suing them is useless. Because when there is a court decision, if Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) blocks it (only) on the territory of the Russian Federation, they will see that you are fighting with them, and will publish even more information about you.
Third, he said that the target must be not the sites, but Google and Yandex. As he said, they exist due to the support from Google and Yandex. Those two are just like salesmen in a gun shop who sell rifles to buyers who say they will shoot people in the street. They [search engines] do not fight against this [compromising material] at all. Before the lawsuit [with the search engines] I myself sent them information [about compromising material]. I attached a police clearance certificate, a residence permit, confirmation of citizenship. After that I had to go to court.
Now Yuri Mosha is negotiating a settlement with Yandex and is suing Google. Read about the difficulties faced by the entrepreneur and other people trying to remove information about themselves from the Internet (especially not from the Internet segment of one country) through court action here.
Making business on a kompromat business
In recent years, several companies have emerged in the Russian Internet segment that earn money by helping people remove information about themselves from search engines, social networks and mass media. They would not be able to make money if the laws on the right to be forgotten worked well.
Here it should be mentioned, that these laws in different forms exist in many countries. And Russia stays behind its neighbors, as there the law only entered into force in 2016. In 2014, the Court of Justice of the European Union adopted the decision according to which the users, in some cases, have the right to request the search engine to remove their personal data from the search results. And the preconditions for this right were already established in the Convention on Human Rights, which entered into force in 1953. In the United States, such cases typically cite Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996.
So, it is difficult and time-consuming to seek a decision to get the data removed from search engines through courts. According to Yandex statistics, the company satisfied 27% of processed requests within three months from the date when the law on the right to be forgotten entered into force (that is, from January to March 2016). Google has more representative statistics, which, moreover, has been collected since 2014.
Photo: Depositphotos
That is why there are companies that resolve such issues avoiding judicial proceedings. They do not remove links to negative publications from search engines, but instead ensure that first pages of the search contain links to positive publications. They negotiate with social networks, contact websites and sometimes pay them.
The founder of one of such companies, Maxim Zlobin, told VC.RU that he first worked with company leaders, government officials and parliamentarians. But over time, he also started to work with individuals.
Maxim Zlobin, the ISN founder:
Once, a woman from Makhachkala contacted us. Hardly speaking Russian, she asked us to delete information about her sole proprietorship. At first, we could not understand why she needed this because search engines only showed records about the liquidation of the sole proprietorship. But then it appeared that her sole proprietorship had a code of the Russian National Classifier of Economic Activities (OKVED) referring to “Activities of massage parlors”. And although the woman did not provide any massage services to men (for religious reasons), if it became known to her relatives, she would be “forever covered with shame.” To remove this information, we partially used passages of the law on insulting the feelings of believers on the verge of the right to be forgotten.
Now half of Zlobin’s clients are businessmen, 30% are politicians, and 20% are public figures or individuals.
If you can’t delete it, take the lead
There are three methods the businessman uses in his work. The first one is negotiations, including offering money to web-platforms for removing negative publications. But, as noted by Yuri Mosha, this method is associated with high risks, including, first of all, the risk of the Streisand effect when the fact of an appeal may become a reason for new material. Second, there is a risk of getting into bondage when the payments to the web platform would become regular.
Prices for publication of the compromising material with which the founder of ISN works are lower than for those Mosha faced. Publishing information with a link to a foreign (containing the compromising information) site, costs €600–800. This allows the Russian kompromat-trash hole to avoid any responsibility for the publication. At the same time, deleting one publication costs from 5,000 to 600,000 rubles. That is, from $100 to about $ 10,000.
Photo: ТАСС/Ведомости/Максим Стулов
Therefore, the businessman considers the second method — work with search results — to be the most effective. Whitewashing articles about the client get posted and promoted in search engines. Thanks to this, the tarnishing publications move down to other pages of search results.
And the third way is a legal battle. When it comes to search engines, the right to be forgotten is used for this, but the common idea is that even if “there is some success in the court, in order to remove the information, you will have to go straight to the Constitutional Court”. Zlobin’s experts also use the law on personal data, which, in particular, states that no information about citizens of the Russian Federation can be stored and processed on the servers of foreign companies without the consent of these people. With social networks, according to Zlobin’s experience, it is often possible to reach an agreement provided that there is a reasonable proof that the compromising material is fabricated.
Kompromat on a business on a kompromat business
However, all this is useless, as Yuri Mosha noted with regret. Faced with the problem of kompromat, he contacted several companies of this kind. He did not mention ISN among those in his interview with Izvestia’s correspondent, however. And those he had contacted left him disappointed.
Yuri Mosha, an entrepreneur:
They cannot do anything. Some of them need a court decision. Others say, “We’re going to overlay [the negative content] with a positive one.” But I create such content myself, I have 5 thousand videos uploaded on YouTube, and it still doesn’t work.
All these companies are just scammers. They can’t do anything. I contacted one site [containing compromising material]. They said: half bitcoin [for deleting publications]. Then I contacted a company. They told me they would call back. They did call back and promised to solve the problem for one bitcoin.
Short-living website publishing compromising material of a different degree of truthfulness represent an ultimate expression of the fake news industry. Unlike the Hollywood-sponsored fake video technology, which (so far) takes resources and time, a site with catchy headlines can be created in several hours. And just as easily it can be removed from the Internet, as, for example, it happened with ostorozhno.ru.
The Site on Dangerous Connections, as was introduced by its authors, appeared in 2008. It published a standard set of material compromising politicians, including those of the Ural region, wrote URA.RU. Now the website link leads to a Riga travel guide with text stolen from a real travel site and ridiculous low-resolution photographs. It is quite obvious that when the money for the removal of the compromising material arrived, the creators simply covered it with a previously prepared dummy. And when a new order arrives, they will again remove it and continue to earn on lies.
Because it is so easy to create, remove, and reproduce such sites, they cannot be defeated. The University of Oxford recently published a report on the fight against fake news in various, primarily European, countries.
The term \"fake news\" addressed during the talk \"Between facts, fakes and manipulations - how do we defend democracy on the Internet?\" at the Ministry of Justice in Berlin, Germany. Photo: Global Look Press/dpa/Jörg Carstensen
The governments of all these countries do not make any attempts to counteract the sites posting compromising material. Because they just cannot. Most are trying to shift the responsibility onto social media. For example, in Germany, Facebook is threatened with a fine of up to €50 million if "obviously illegal" content is not removed within 24 hours. In some other countries, like Turkey or Bulgaria, according to the authors, the fight against fake news simply justifies the pressure on the opposition. And only two European countries, Sweden and Holland, came to an idea of teaching people to distinguish between rumors and the truth. Other countries, in contrast, just keep prohibiting things without obtaining any reasonable effect of this.

Why Ethereum Problems Make UMI the Flagship Among the New Generation Cryptocurrencies

https://preview.redd.it/8skuypxp9lj51.jpg?width=1023&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba5a38ba592428f92dc7c1943a780ff127132875
Ethereum cryptocurrency that comes second in terms of capitalization on the crypto market is traditionally seen as fast and profitable. However, over the last few weeks it's had a rough patch. Since early August, the network has had huge queues of transactions pending processing while fees have skyrocketed and surpassed the historical high.
The main issue though is that even fees of a few dollars per transfer don't help get rid of the“traffic jams”. The cause of this is numerous DeFi projects and a huge number of financial pyramids based on the Ethereum platform. Both generate excessive load on the network.
The situation is downright unpleasant, and our users might question whether the UMI network could face a similar challenge? We'd like to assure you it could not. The UMI network is by default protected against these problems — it cannot have “traffic jams”, fees or financial pyramids. But first things first.
How has the Ethereum network ground to a halt?
In its report dated August 4, Arcane Research that provides analysis within the field of cryptocurrency stated that over the previous week the daily size of transaction fees in the Ethereum network has surged up to a record high for over two and a half years. On August 3, the median value #%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%B5%D1%80_%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%8F)of the fee amounted to $0.82, with the overall amount of transaction fees totaling $2 mln. However, it only signaled the start of real problems.
Over the next week, fees continued to grow and by August 11 the median fee value almost doubled equaling $1.57. Larry Cermak, an expert at a big analytical and news-making crypto portal The Block, wrote in his August 15 tweet that over a week the total amount of transaction fees in the Ethereum network totaled $34.5 mln, having surpassed its historical high. Meanwhile, in the Bitcoin network that is seen as too expensive the fees were almost four times lower at $9 mln.
The total fee amount paid by cryptocurrency users over a week:
  • Ethereum — $34.5 mln;
  • Bitcoin — $9 mln;
  • Monero — $2,240;
  • Tezos — $1,876;
  • Cardano — $1,615;
  • XRP — $1,138;
  • BSV — $1,102;
  • Stellar — $1,059;
  • Bitcoin Cash — $1,027;
  • UMI — $0. Let's talk about it a little later.

Historical Growth Chart for Ethereum Fees. Source
The existing situation shows that Ethereum is actually not as fast and profitable as commonly cited. Additionally, this could happen to almost any cryptocurrency except UMI that charges no fees whatsoever. We will tell you why.
Why have these problems emerged?
There is nothing unoriginal: the Ethereum network simply can't handle an increased load. Arcane Research analysts consider that a principal cause of this situation is the constantly increasing number of the DeFi ecosystem projects built on the Ethereum blockchain. Their number is growing all the time which causes the overload of the network. As of August 12, the total amount of funds in DeFi applications reached $4.3 billion which is 19.5% higher than that in the past week. At the time of writing this article, the amount surged to $6.21 billion. You can see the current data here. What is the most unpleasant about DeFi protocols is that a lot of them are scam projects.
Which is not the worst part though. There is also another factor that significantly slows down the Ethereum network. There are a lot of pyramid-like projects that are built on the EOS platform and use smart contracts. One of them is SmartWay Forsage, which regularly overloads the network with a large number of transactions, causes traffic jams, and, consequently, leads to increased fees (keep in mind that Ethereum miners choose transactions with a higher commission). Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, revealed his disapproval of the SmartWay Forsage methodology and asked them to "leave and not pollute Ethereum ecology in the future". However, the project is slow to do this — it continues to deceive users.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of scam projects which abounds on the EOS network –– they continually emerge, work for a while, then go down as scams and are replaced with new ones. This never-ending stream of "investment projects" based on the Ponzi scheme overloads the system. This is the reason why Adam Back, a pioneer of the crypto industry and founder of the technology company Blockstream, equated Ethereum with such infamous projects as Onecoin and Bitconnect. Adam Back's solid dig at Ethereum became the subject of much debate among crypto enthusiasts.
Of course, it all doesn't mean that Ethereum is a bad cryptocurrency. On the contrary, it has a lot of advantages over other coins. But all that has happened exposes Ethereum's faults which must be eliminated. The problem is that they may not be fixable. It is far from certain that the developers will be able to get rid of all the defects as the system has huge scalability problems.
The crypto community has to admit that Ethereum, like other first-generation cryptocurrencies, has issues with capacity, fees, and scalability and is gradually becoming obsolete.
2020 is the time for young innovative cryptocurrencies such as UMI.
UMI is the flagship of new-generation cryptocurrencies.
In real fact, any cryptocurrency could face it. Each cryptocurrency charges fees which typically surge when the network is overloaded or the price is going up. Everyone will remember 2017 when in line with price growth and the network's overload Bitcoin transaction fee reached a high of around $40.
But when it comes to UMI, it works the other way round. The UMI network's advantages are high capacity, no fees, and scaling possibilities. It uses the best and fastest crypto industry solutions and excludes all inefficient methods by default. Smart optimization in combination with the Proof-of-Authority technology operating on the master node basis enables almost instant payments.
At the stage of network testing, an incredibly high capacity was achieved:
  • up to 4,369 transactions per second;
  • up to 262,140 transactions per minute;
  • up to 15,728,400 transactions per hour;
  • up to 377,481,600 transactions per day.
Ethereum processes about 20 transactions per second. It means that the UMI network can process transactions that Ethereum processes over a year in 1 to 5 days — and with no fees.
https://preview.redd.it/rwohnov3alj51.png?width=1125&format=png&auto=webp&s=4329b75c0bd8b7a22276b529f5ca433d17a0874f
The UMI network can process transactions that Ethereum processes over a year in a few days and with no fees. More details
What is more important is that less than 0.001% of the network's overall potential is used now. The UMI network has a lot of reserve capacity and can handle hundreds of thousands of times heavier load. Moreover, with scaling possibilities, UMI can keep up with the times. The UMI code ensures the safe introduction of any upgrades — the network can be easily modified and scaled with cutting edge technology solutions. In other words, traffic jams will never pose a problem for us. UMI will instantly process all transactions, with no fees. Always.

A real-time speedometer displays the number of transactions processed by the UMI network per second. Link
Additionally, unlike Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies, the UMI's staking smart contract prevents possibilities of any pyramid schemes, meaning eliminates their negative influence. Our staking is completely safe and secured against scammers. Read more about this in our article. Any UMI staking structure could work forever. In other words, you can multiply your coins at a rate of up to 40% per month for an indefinitely long period of time.
UMI doesn't inherit the disadvantages of the first-generation cryptocurrencies. This is an innovative, carefully designed network based on state-of-the-art technologies. UMI is an ambitious step toward the future. And we're making it together right now!
Sincerely yours, UMI team

2020.08.08 17:07 what-888 Why sightings dramatically increased after Hiroshima

Two years after Hiroshima's bombing, sightings drastically increased across the world. The oldest declassified UFO files date as far as the 1940s. (A credible documentary was made about this I will tag it here later)
I would like to support the theory that radiation from the bomb announced our presence much more prominently than SETI radios. It wouldn't make much sense for an advanced civilisation to use radio signals that even we don't primarily rely on.
There is also the radioactive aspect of the objects. In plenty of investigations carried about by the military into witnesses claims, they often look for radioactivity around spots the objects allegedly landed on. It's heavily correlated. Well supported witnesses usually get hospitalized for radiation burns (see Brazilian government's UFO file: project saucer)
This raises the possibility that they need some form of radioactive fuel as a power source. They might've spotted our planet while in the middle of a search for resources.

Egypt Kings Lists
from AncientEgypt Website

The Turin Kinglist, also known as the Turin Royal Canon, is a unique papyrus, written in hieratic, currently in the Egyptian Museum at Turin, to which it owes its modern name.
It is broken into over 160 often very small fragments, many of which have been lost.
When it was discovered in the Theban necropolis by the Italian traveller Bernardino Drovetti in 1822, it seems to have been largely intact, but by the time it became part of the collection of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, its condition had severely deteriorated.

The importance of this papyrus was first recognized by the French Egyptologist Jean-François Champollion, who, later followed by Gustavus Seyffarth took up its reconstruction and restoration.
Although they succeeded in placing most of the fragments in the correct order, the diligent intervention of these two men came too late and many lacunae to thus important papyrus still remain.
Written during the long reign of Ramesses II, the papyrus, now estimated at 1.7m long and 0.41m high, comprises on the recto an unknown number of pages that hold a list of names of persons and institutions, along with what appears to be the tax-assessment of each.
It is, however, the verso of the papyrus that has attracted the most attention, as it contains a list of gods, demi-gods, spirits, mythical and human kings who ruled Egypt from the beginning of time presumably until the composition of this valuable document.
The beginning and ending of the list are now lost, which means that we are missing both the introduction of the list - if ever there was such an introduction - and the enumeration of the kings following the 17th Dynasty.
We therefore do not know for certain when after the composition of the tax-list on the recto an unknown scribe used the verso to write down this list of kings. This may have occurred during the reign of Ramesses II, but a date as late as the 20th Dynasty can not be excluded.
The fact that the list was scribbled on the back of an older papyrus has been seen by some as an indication that it was of no great importance to the writer. Perhaps it was a text that needed to be copied in a scribes' school by way of exercise?
We are also left in the dark as to what source or sources our laborious scribe used to write down the list.
Did he simply copy an already existing papyrus? And if so, for what reason? And what has happened to the original? How was that compiled? Or did the scribe, probably having access to the archives of the temples, compile the list himself, using ancient tax-notes, decrees and documents?
The latter possibility seems the less likely and would infer that the Turin Kinglist is indeed a unique document.
There are several other lists that enumerate the predecessors of a king, such as the lists in the temples of Seti I and Ramesses II at Abydos -to name but two-, so what makes the Turin Kinglist so exceptional?
The other lists, although very valuable for the study of Ancient Egyptian chronology as well, are nothing more than an enumeration of some of the "ancestors" of the current king.
Often the current king, or one of his contemporaries, is seen in adoration before the cartouches or representations of the king’s "ancestors".
The current king is in fact represented as the good heir who pays respect to his long line of "ancestors". The word "ancestor" can not be taken literally, as the current king was in no way a descendant of most of his predecessors.
Such lists had a more cultic and political reason for being, for indeed they confirmed that the current king was the rightful heir of the kings that had ruled Egypt for many centuries.
These cultic lists are more a subjective choice of predecessors than an actual enumeration of all kings:
they will in most cases include kings such as Menes and Mentuhotep II, for they have played a pivotal role in the history of Ancient Egypt.
Other, less important kings, usurpers or kings that were considered to be illegitimate, such as the kings connected to the Amarna-revolution, were omitted from the lists.
The Turin Kinglist, on the other hand, does a lot more than simply list some kings: it groups them together and it mentions the duration of their reigns. What’s more, it even takes note of some kings that are omitted from the cultic lists, such as the otherwise quite unpopular Hyksos!
Despite the fact that it begins with an enumeration of gods, demi-gods, spirits and mythical that were supposed to have ruled Egypt before the reign of Menes, it was not a cultic list and it does not serve the purpose of showing the current king as the good heir to his "ancestors".
The king list of the Turin Kinglist was originally divided over an unknown number of columns or sheets, of which only 11 remain. Columns I to V comprised 25 or 26 lines of text, column VI at least 27 and columns IX and X at least 30.
The increasing number of lines as the Canon reaches its end seems to indicate that the scribe realized that he would not have sufficient space on his papyrus to write down all the royal names known to him in 25- or 26-line columns.
Most lines give the name of a particular king, written in a cartouche, followed by the number of years he ruled, and in some cases even by the number of months and days. The number of years credited to some kings of the 1st and 2nd Dynasty is so high, that, in those particular cases, they are most likely not correct.
It has sometimes been postulated that this high number of years does not reflect the length of a reign but the age at which the king died.
Although this possibility can not entirely be overruled, it is strange that the writer should choose to note the age of a king in one case and the length of his reign in another. I would rather suspect that the scribe mistook the year-labels of early kings as representations of different years, whereas it is likely that several labels actually referred to the same year..
For the kings of the first three dynasties, a name is written in a cartouche as well, despite the fact that cartouche-names were not used prior to the rule of the last king of the 3rd Dynasty, Huni.
The cartouche-name used for these kings is often similar to the names used for the same kings in the cultic king-lists, but they are quite different from the Horus-name by which they were known officially during their reign.
The relationship between the Horus-names of these early kings and the names used in the Turin Kinglist is not certain: for the later 1st Dynasty kings, the name in the kinglists seems to be based on their Nebti-name, but how the earlier kings of the 1st Dynasty and all kings of the 2nd and 3rd Dynasties got their names is not known.
The kings are grouped together logically based on the city where they took up residence. These groups do not (entirely) correspond to the dynasties into which the kings were placed by Manetho.
This indicates that the notion of dynasties was not present or fully developed before the 19th or 20th Dynasty.
Most groups comprise a line of summation that totals the number of years that this particular group has ruled. These summations are sometimes written on 1 line, sometimes divided over 2 lines and sometimes written in 1 line that is so long that it encroaches the next column. In some cases a group is introduced by a heading.
The fact that there are far less headings than summations may rather be the result of the fragmentary state of the Canon than an inconsistency on the part of the scribe who wrote or copied the list.
Despite its incomplete and fragmentary nature, and despite the fact that the placing of the fragments has been contested from time to time, the Turin Kinglist is one of our most important sources of knowledge about the chronology of Egypt between the 1st and 17th Dynasty.
The following pages contain a hieroglyphic transcription of that part of the Turin Kinglist that lists actual kings. The transcription has been based on the publication of the Turin Kinglist by Alan H. Gardiner. Although a rather old publication (the first edition is dated to the late 50's), the placement of the different fragments as proposed by Gardiner is still largely accepted by most Egyptologists.
Since his publication, other fragments seem to have been placed as well.
This will not yet be reflected in my current transcription of the Canon.
When making this hieroglyphic transcription, I have tried to respect the disposition of the signs as much as possible, except that I have oriented the signs from left to right for practical reasons, instead of from right to left as they were written in the original hieratic text.
The translations are written in italics and are my own. Words in the translation that are written in red were written in red ink in the original text as well.
Translations between [ ] are restorations of smaller lacunae. Where a restoration of a lacuna was not possible or uncertain, the signs /// will appear.
If the need arises to make some additional remarks about a particular line of text, this will be done using a smaller font.
A total of 16 "groups" can be distinguished (clicking on the links below will take you to a hieroglyphic transcription and a translation of that particular group):

Contents I,x - I,21: Ptah and the Great Ennead I,22 - II,3 : Horus and the Lesser Ennead (?) II,4 - II,8 : the spirits II,9 : a mythical group of kings II,10 : another group of mythical kings (?) “This thing IS what it seems to be, it’s a galactic intelligence, it’s a billion years old, it’s touched ten million worlds, it knows the history of 150,000 civilizations, it’s beyond the possibility of your conceiving it…” Terence McKenna
“If we’re ever to get to grips properly with the profound mysteries of consciousness, and with the ground truth about this thing we call “reality”, then sooner or later we’re going to have deploy the ancient technology of dimethyltryptamine (DMT) the most powerful psychedelic known to science. The groundwork was done in the 1990’s by Rick Strassman at the University of New Mexico, further important investigations of this so-called “spirit molecule” are underway today at the Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research, but one of the most inspired and most insightful new minds in the field is computational neurobiologist Andrew Gallimore, author of the startling and powerful Alien Information Theory: Psychedelic Drug Technologies and the Cosmic Game**. I highly recommend this remarkable, deeply thought-provoking, well-written and actually unique book. The evidence and analysis presented on DMT and its role as a reality modulator will — literally — blow your mind.”**
----- Graham Hancock, author of Fingerprints of the Gods, and of Supernatural; Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind.

Terence McKenna’s mushroom-inspired vision of an ancient, almost god-like, super-intelligence is both awe-inspiring and terrifying. However, whilst there is no reason to assume that such an unimaginably powerful alien intelligence couldn’t exist somewhere within this Universe or, perhaps, in some hidden dimensions beyond it, few fear having to confront such a creature: these frightening dimensions can be safely tucked away amongst the more exotic branches of modern mathematical physics and their occupants relegated to the pages of pulp sci-fi novels. At least that’s the case until one encounters DMT.
DMT — N,N-dimethyltryptamine — is the strangest and most ubiquitous of all naturally-occurring psychedelic molecules, and presents something of a problem for those who would have us — like Carl Sagan — comfortably alone in our orbit around a “humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of the Universe”: within seconds of ingestion, either by inhalation of its acrid vapour or by intravenous injection, DMT hurls the user with a frightening ferocity into a bizarre hyperdimensional world replete with a diverse panoply of extremely intelligent entities, some of which bear an uncanny resemblance to McKenna’s ancient galactic intelligence. It’s reassuringly easy — some might say facile — to simply dismiss these experiences as mere hallucination, but it really isn’t that simple. From an orthodox neuroscience standpoint, it’s actually pretty tricky to explain why ingestion of the world’s simplest psychedelic molecule ought to reliably manifest hypertechnological worlds teeming with bizarre alien intelligences (Gallimore, 2013). So, what’s to be done with the machine elves, the insectoid aliens, and their ilk? Can they be filed away alongside the other psychological case studies marked “hallucinatory phenomena”? Or could something far far stranger be going on?
In the modern era, it’s pretty easy to find a cosmologist, astronomer, or any other rational individual who will happily contemplate the extremely high probability of us living within a Universe teeming with intelligent life, but many will toss their head back derisively should you suggest there might be ways of establishing direct two-way communication with them: monumental intergalactic separation and light-speed limitations are the standard weapons of choice wielded to keep such life at a reassuringly safe distance. They are there, but they will never be here. Naturally, there are honourable exceptions keen to point out that we can’t be sure that an intelligent civilisation a million or so years more advanced than us couldn’t have worked out how to manipulate the structure of space-time itself to generate shortcuts for interstellar travel. Indeed, such space-time wormholes — known technically as Einstein–Rosen bridges — fall naturally out of Einstein’s field equations. As such, we shouldn’t be too surprised if tales of UFOs hovering over rural outhouses and nocturnal alien abductions turn out to have some basis in truth.
Of course, it’s extremely difficult, if not impossible, for us to imagine what an intelligent creature a thousand, let alone a few million, years more advanced than us might look like, and it would be unwise to assume that the majority of such aliens would occupy any kind of recognisably biological form. Amongst intelligent beings that evolve within the Universe, it’s likely that the biological-technological phase — the phase we’re in — is transient (Davies, 2010): estimates for the lifetime of a technological civilisation range from as low as a few thousand years to as high as a million or more. But, even at our own extremely young technological age — 100 years or so — cultural and technological evolution is already proceeding at a vastly greater pace than its biological Darwinian counterpart. According to cognitive scientist Susan Schneider (2015), once a civilisation creates the technology that could put them in touch with the cosmos, they are probably only a few hundred years from shifting their paradigm from biology to some kind of artificial intelligence, at which point they might well be transparent to any of our standard attempts at communication: As McKenna liked to quip, “to search expectantly for a radio signal from an extraterrestrial source is probably as culture-bound a presumption as to search the galaxy for a good Italian restaurant.” All things considered, the balance of probabilities suggests we most likely live in a largely post-biological Universe, “one in which the majority of intelligent life has evolved beyond flesh and blood intelligence” (Dick, 2003), and it’s a challenge to even imagine what that might look like, let alone work out how we might find and communicate with it.
Although it’s certainly something of a humbling experience to realise that the majority of intelligent life within our own Universe is likely to be beyond our comprehension, there’s little to bolster our meat-embedded egos in considering other universes: there’s no reason why our Universe couldn’t be one amongst countless others and we have no way of knowing the types of intelligences that might, or might not, emerge within them. In fact, not only do we not know anything of their nature, but it seems we also have no means of learning anything of their nature and, as such, they must surely remain squarely within the realms of wild speculation. But perhaps we shouldn’t dismiss them so hastily in this way.
MIT computer scientist Ed Fredkin, one of the fathers of digital physics, cautions us against assuming that the restrictions imposed by the Laws of Physics that reign in this Universe have any bearing on events, processes, or emergent living intelligences in places outside of it, which he simply calls Other (Fredkin, 2003). Of course, it’s a huge leap from such level-headed agnosticism to any kind of assertion regarding the nature — or even the existence — of intelligence beyond our little slice of reality. But, the crucial point is that the physical laws as they manifest in our Universe might be wholly irrelevant when considering the Other. As such, it would be extremely naive and “Universe-centric” to assume that interdimensional intelligences would be unable to somehow access or provide a gateway into their reality, whether they be post-biological beings that have left our material Universe or intelligences that emerged entirely outside of it. We can’t assume, for example, that an extremely advanced post-biological civilisation couldn’t have discovered a means of exiting our Universe entirely to a realm where the physics are incomparable. Or, it’s also conceivable that there might be life extant in other parallel realities (alternate universes) that are entirely unimaginable in their form to us, but which, for reasons yet to be understood, can be accessed using certain technologies (such as DMT). Which is more likely is difficult to say but, according to astrobiologist Stephen J. Dick, the maintenance, improvement, and perpetuation of knowledge and intelligence is the central driving force of cultural evolution, and to the extent that intelligence can be improved, it will be improved”(Dick, 2003). In other words, knowledge is power**,** and if we meet post-biological beings that seem to have transcended the material realm we currently occupy, we might expect them to be extraordinarily intelligent. In fact, one could argue that the immense levels of intelligence manifested by beings so often met in the DMT space, together with the curiously hypertechnological environments they tend to inhabit, is evidence of a vast period of technological evolution and perhaps indicative of beings that were once part of our Universe but have long since made their escape into the Other. And, perhaps, DMT is an embedded technology that might allow us, one day, to follow. Since we currently have no understanding of the physics of the “DMT world”, nor of its relationship to our reality — Fredkin’s Agnostic Principle — any objection by appealing to the Laws of Physics in this Universe might well be moot.
Of course, all of this is highly speculative stuff, but there is a serious point to be made here: when you come face-to-face with astonishingly powerful and intelligent alien entities that seem — or claim — to hail from normally-hidden dimensions of reality, you must be very careful. Whether or not we can currently explain why DMT is able to grant an audience with such beings, it might be a good idea to shut up, to watch, and to listen. Because there’s a small, but very real, possibility that they’re exactly who they say they are.

Alien Information Theory — Part II: The Book

As a scientist and writer with a passion for psychoactive drugs, especially those of the psychedelic variety, I’ve spent most of my adult life so far thinking about how these molecules interact with the brain to generate their remarkable effects on consciousness, and what these effects might tell us about the strange reality we find ourselves living in. Although, to a reasonably satisfying extent, this thinking often led to something approaching understanding, when confronted with DMT, my scientific mind was left reeling and utterly confounded. I simply could not explain it. There was nothing within the pages of the modern neuroscience literature that could have prepared me for DMT, and my first experience with this astonishing molecule triggered what I knew would be a lifelong dedication to its study.
Like many coming of age just as the internet was beginning to emerge, my introduction to the bizarre reality-switching effects of DMT came via the late great psychedelic bard, Terence McKenna, gleaned from the now (understandably) dated, but still extant, HTML pages of his Alchemical Garden at the Edge of Time, as well as transcripts of lecture fragments scattered across the sparse nodes of the early web — if you wanted to actually listen to Terence speak, you either had to attend one of his lectures in person or send off for cassette tapes by mail order. From these early teenage, mid 90s, forays in cyberspace to my research and writing in the present day, Terence’s ideas have remained a fertile source of inspiration. However, there was one oft-repeated McKenna-ism that resonated particularly strongly with me, uttered during a seemingly casual conversation about crop circles that was subsequently published online:
The main thing to understand is that we are imprisoned in some kind of work of art.”
For some reason that wasn’t entirely clear (it still isn’t), when I first read this simple sentence, something about it shook me and left me shaking. Like one of the Grand Pronouncements from the Upanishads, it seemed to import some deep and profound truth about our reality — if only I could get at it and make sense of it. Why was this the “main thing” to understand? What kind of “work of art” was Terence referring to? And how could we possibly be imprisoned within it? Although exactly what Terence was trying to convey will always be up for discussion, it was clear that this sparkling scintilla of revelation was inspired by his experiences with DMT. And I couldn’t help but think that my attachment to it resulted, in part, from my own. Somewhere inside me, Terence’s Grand Pronouncement buried itself deep and now, many years later, from that seed, my latest book, Alien Information Theory, emerged.
In many ways, Alien Information Theory is admittedly something of a strange book. Although it is ostensibly the culmination of several years of careful research, speculation, thoughtful enquiry, and diligent labouring at a keyboard, as I flick through its colourful pages, I remain partly mystified as to where the book came from. Of course, I’m certainly not claiming any kind of divine inspiration or revealed truth about DMT (and I wouldn’t recommend trusting anyone that made such a claim). But, somehow, from a heady blend of the conscious, subconscious and, perhaps, a touch of the unconscious, a coherent narrative within which DMT plays a central role finally took shape. If, as Terence McKenna asserted, we are indeed imprisoned inside a work of art, the book’s narrative describes how such a work of art might have been constructed and, more importantly, how we might escape it.
If I was forced to say what kind of book it is, I might call it a textbook from the future. The scientific basis for all the ideas discussed, from the fundamental physics and emergence of complexity to the global dynamics of the human brain and the effects of psychedelic drugs, is as accurate as I can make it (and referenced throughout), with a few deliberate simplifications to aid understanding and avoid alienating the non-specialist reader, although I allow myself the indulgence of not hedging my ideas with provisos and caveats at every turn — I am perhaps more definitive in the way I treat certain ideas than some would feel is warranted. But, after all, the book is not intended as a work of scientific rhetoric — I am not trying to convince you that it is true. It is simply my vision of reality that has emerged after incubating an idea. As far as I am aware, it is a uniquely constructed vision, and I present it only as that.
Terence McKenna also said, “the world could be anything.” Well, perhaps, it is something like this.

2020.07.25 18:50 Purple-Tatters Set in Late and Post Egyptian History

Part 1 - Prehistory and Pyramid Texts
Part 2 - Early and Middle Egypt
It was not all bad for Set and his followers. With the rise of Akhenaten and his monotheistic Atenism in the New Kingdom, the Egyptian pantheon was severely shaken up, and the populace was not pleased. Akhenaten was the very first monotheist, and he attempted to abolish the old, polytheistic religion of Egypt. As stated in part 1, this was similar to the struggle of the Solar religion to overtake the Stellar, except Atenism failed in one lifetime.
As could be expected, Egypt did not take kindly to this bastardization of their religion. With his death, Egypt collectively attempted to erase the memory of Atenism and revert the country back to its traditional polytheism/henotheism. After his death, the famous King Tut took over rulership of Egypt and began work on bringing back the Old Religion. With the help of his advisor Horemheb, Egypt quickly returned to its Old ways and removed all but a small handful of references to the monotheistic Pharaoh.
I wrote much more in depth on Horemheb, including his relationship with Set, here
Following this, Egypt faced one of its most prosperous times under the rule of a family dedicated to Set, including Seti I and the famous Rameses II. Seti I was not an heir same as Horemheb had not been, but both had been elected heirs in lieu of a proper one. Descending from the military families of Abydos (Nubt) dedicated to Set, these Pharaohs rebuilt Egypt, creating a golden age, conquering the most lands Egypt ever had, and building like they had never built before. A major focus was placed on rebuilding the Cult of Set, and in the end Rameses II rebuilt Pi-Rameses and retired there to worship Set over Amun.
In the Tomb of Seti I Set is represented as Ursa Major in the form of a Bulls leg. In some takes on the myth, Tawret holds Set chained in the northern skies separate from the gods (the Zodiac), after his leg is cut off and tossed up. This one may be my absolute favorite. There's also examples of him spelling his name with an Osiris glyph and Isis knot with reeds, making Swty, Seti without the Set animal, and there exists an image of him worshiping Set directly. His very name meant “Man of Set”, and like Rameses II would, he had focused on rebuilding the locals sacred to Set.
The 400 year stele scene depicts Rameses II, shown honoring the god Set in the form of the foreign god Ba’al. This stele was intended to reclaim Set as a true and ancient god of the Egyptians, and not a deity of the foreign rulers. Doing so allowed the worship of Set to thrive again as a true Egyptian deity. That Set is shown in the form of Ba’al was not intended to show Set as foreign, but rather that this god was another form of Set! With the boarders of the empire expanding, it became more and more important to understand the existence of other pantheons, which the Egyptians did by envisioning them as simply different interpretations of the same gods. It further shows the pluralistic nature of these rulers. He was even more deeply associate with Set due to DNA confirmed fair skin and red hair, red hair being consistently associated with Set through history.
In modern times it has been determined that behind Rameses stands Seti I, and that the 400 year anniversary seems to date to the reign of Horemheb when Seti’s father, Rameses I, was his close friend and priest of Set following the Armana heresy.
Post-Egypt
After the Ramses line began to decline, so did the face of Ancient Egypt. The country became more and more divided, eventually leading into the Greek and Roman times within Egypt. It is not unfair to say that the Ramses line was the last line of true Egyptian rulership and culture. Set fell into extreme disfavor, being shunned in most forms by most groups and inevitably being fully demonized by the Church. He also had two more pharaos in the 20th Dyansty, Setnakhte and his son Rameses III, who took his name from Rameses II's legacy. However these were short lived and did not revitalize Set worship specifically or keep the legacy of Egypt from fading into the past.
Yet Set still made his way into magical circles, such as in the Greek Magical Papyri where he was invoked in connection with both love and destruction. It's said that the Bornless [Headless] Ritual was originally for Set. In modern Greek myth he was identified negatively with Typhon, though in many cases his positive values continued on in the form of the Chaoskampf myths, which we will discuss in our next and final section.

2020.06.21 04:42 Vivi2T Can someone fact check this? It’s a comment arguing about the reliability of a biblical Exodus. (I am not sure if the argument supports a large scale Exodus though.) * DISCLAIMER: Taken from a comment I saw (but I forgot to like it) so I genuinely can’t find the user who posted this.

There is not a single iota of evidence from any record of ancient Egypt that points to Exodus as anything except fiction.
Wrong again. An Israelite presence in Egypt is quite reasonable and fairly certain.
  1. First of all, it needs to be decided what sort of evidences you expect to find. Most archaeological remains are found in the destruction layers of cities. What would one expect to find of a people group on the move for 40 years, building no cities, subject to little military action, and taking all their possessions with them? We have to be realistic about what one expects to find as evidence. Mostly what an archaeologist might hope maybe to find is skeletons, but since they would be scattered about, even that would be a challenge. The egalitarian nature of Israelite society, however (confirmed by excavations in Canaan during Joshua's era, when they know Israelites were present in the region) yields precious few artifacts, even skeletons of the dead—and we KNOW the Israelites were there then. The Israelites buried in simple shallow graves outside of settlements, in open fields with no grave goods. What evidence are you thinking an archaeologist will find?
  2. Archaeologists, though, have uncovered the well-preserved village of Deir el-Medina in Egypt, showing us the exact conditions under which Egypt’s own laborers worked, and it matches the conditions described in the Exodus. This village was inhabited for over 400 years. This supports the realism of the narrative of the early chapters of Exodus. The author knew what he was talking about.
  3. We know from extra-biblical sources that immigrants regularly entered and settled in Egypt. Some are depicted in the tomb of Khnumhotep at Beni Hasan (1850 BC). The best known large-scale immigration involves a group of Asiatics we know as the Hyksos who actually ruled Egypt, at least over the northeast Delta, as Dynasties XV & XVI (1650-1550 BC). Their position did not differ much from that of Joseph as described in the Bible. The Joseph story is easily believable given what we know about Egyptian history.
  4. About 400 years after the Hyksos, Dynasty XIX came to power in Egypt, including Pharaoh Ramesses the Great. The 430-year Egyptian sojourn could have spanned the era from Hyksos to Ramesses. The Ramesside family originated in the NE Delta and came to the throne through the office of the vizierate, the pharaoh’s prime minister and chief justice. The Ramessides certainly had some Asiatic roots, as indicated by the choice of the name Seti. This doesn't prove the Exodus or give evidence for it, but it supports the realism of the narrative. The book of Exodus fits easily into the framework of Egyptian history.
  5. An Egyptian tomb discovered in Sakkara, Egypt, in the late 1980s, contains the coffin of a Semite named Aper el along with the coffins of his wife and children. His titles include "vizier," "mayor of the city," "judge," "father of god," "child of the nursery." This tells us that a Semitic-speaking foreigner like Joseph, and later Moses, could have risen to the highest levels of Egyptian government. James Hoffmeier points out that Aper el's name was the first of a high ranking, Semite official to be found there, even though Sakkara has been excavated and explored for more than a century. "If such a high ranking official as Vizier Aper el was completely unknown to modern scholarship until the late 1980s, despite the fact that he lived in one of the better documented periods of Egyptian history [14th century], and was buried in arguably the most excavated site in Egypt, it is wrong to demand, as some have, that direct archaeological evidence for Joseph should be available if he were in fact a historical figure." This is even more the case, he says, because Joseph lived during a period when surviving Egyptian documents of any kind are sparse and because Joseph operated in the Nile Delta, an area that remains "underexcavated" to this day
  6. In the 13th c. BC, during the reign of Ramesses the Great (aka Ramesses II), the old Hyksos capital of Avaris in the northeast Delta was rebuilt and expanded under the new name of Pi-Ramesses (Ex. 1.11), just as the Bible says.
  7. The place names of Ra’amses and Pithom (Ex 1.11) in Egypt accord with the Late Bronze Age, when there was extensive construction in the Nile delta region, most likely by a large slave force.
  8. The desert Tabernacle is described as a portable prefabricated shrine. The structure has close Egyptian parallels in the 2nd millennium BC. The Tabernacle is true to the era, and even likely to have come from people who knew about Egyptian architecture. The ark of the covenant may be compared with the portable clothes chest found in the tomb of King Tut (1336-1327 BC).
  9. The accounts of the Exodus ring true to nomadic life: nomads living in the Nile delta who were exploited for cheap labor, Moses' flight to Midian was a common escape route, Bedouins knew how to find water in the wilderness, even by striking certain rocks, Matzah had origins in Bedouin life, etc. These give credibility to the narrative.
  10. A pillared, 4-room Israelite house has been found along the Nile near the biblical city of Ra'amses. It bears no similarity to any Egyptian structure, but is identical to the houses of Canaan after the Israelite presence is known. It is dated to 1200-1000 BC.
  11. An Egyptian papyrus reveals an Asiatic slave with a Biblical name identical to the name of a midwife mentioned in Exodus: Shiphrah (Ex. 1.15). It is reasonably certain that the papyrus came from Thebes. The point is not that this is the same woman, but that such names date to that era in that area. The text of Exodus rings true to the culture and era.
  12. The Merneptah stele clearly shows that before the last quarter of the 13th century BC there existed an "Israel" as distinct from Egypt and outside of it, though there is a strong Egyptian presence in the land of Canaan.
  13. The Wisdom of Merikare and the Prophecy of Neferti, ancient Egyptian documents, report influxes of thousands of Semites into the Nile Delta between 2200 and 2000 B.C. Similar patterns of settlement recurred over the next thousand years, creating a "significant Asiatic population" in the Delta region. The Merikare document explains that these Asiatic, Semitic speaking peoples, like Jacob and his sons, had come to the fertile Delta area in search of food during times of famine.
  14. There is abundant evidence in all eras that Egyptians were slave owners. Scholars previously though that the pyramids in the 3rd millennium BC were built by foreign slaves. Current thinking, however, is that Egyptians, possibly as conscripts or corvée, built the structures. Foreigners, captured in war, were enslaved. Pharaoh Thutmose III (1479-1425 BC) brought back almost 90,000 prisoners from his campaign in Canaan. In other words, the Egyptians were known for large groups of foreign slaves. Exodus fits these facts.
  15. In a surviving Egyptian document called Leiden Papyrus 348, orders are given to "distribute grain rations to the soldiers and to the 'Apiru who transport stones to the great pylon of Rames[s]es." This brings to mind Exodus 1:11, which says the Hebrews "built supply cities, Pithom and Rameses, for Pharaoh." While hotly debated, 'Apiru is believed by some scholars to refer to the Hebrews, the 'Ibri. If a future discovery of an inscription could link this word to the Hebrews, this document would prove to be our first direct extrabiblical reference to the children of Israel in slavery in Egypt.
  16. Recent discoveries of military outposts on a road leading from Egypt into Canaan, built by Pharaoh Seti I and earlier kings in the 13th c. BC, shed new light on why a northern route for the Exodus would have meant war for the Israelites. Exodus 13:17 states: "When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearer; for God thought, 'If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt.' " Instead, the Bible explains, "God led the people by the roundabout way of the wilderness."
  17. While it is virtually impossible 3,000 years later to retrace the footsteps of a people who escaped over a sand swept wilderness, an Egyptian letter (Anastasi III) from guards at a "border crossing" between Egypt and the Sinai helps explain Moses' insistent cry, "Let my people go!" The text indicates that in the 13th c. the Egyptians maintained a tight border control, allowing no one to pass without a permit. The letter describes two slaves who—in a striking parallel to the Israelite escape—flee from the city of Rameses at night, are pursued by soldiers, but disappear into the Sinai wilderness. "When my letter reaches you," writes the official to the border guard, "write to me about all that has happened to [them]. Who found their tracks? Which watch found their tracks? Write to me about all that has happened to them and how many people you send out after them." Another inscription from the same cache of documents (Anastasi VI) records that an entire tribe gained permission to enter Egypt from Edom in search of food. Compare that with Gen. 42.3.
  18. No one knows the exact location of Mt. Sinai, and archaeological remains are scarce in the Sinai Peninsula. There is in Midian, however, a "holy" mountain surrounded by literally THOUSANDS (tens of thousands) of artifacts and carvings relating to the time period and the situation of the Exodus. Perhaps, as scholars are still evaluating, Moses led the people in their wanderings through Midian (a theory that would make sense given that he had spent 40 years there) rather than the Sinai Peninsula, and perhaps these abundant remains are exactly what people such as you are looking for.
  19. For two centuries ending in 1550 B.C., a foreign Asiatic people called the Hyksos actually ruled Egypt. After their expulsion, the new pharaoh extended his rule into Canaan and Syria, transporting back to Egypt many prisoners of war. After the expulsion of the Hyksos ruling and military elite, Pharaoh Ahmose and his successors discovered large numbers of Semitic speaking peoples, including the Hebrews, in the Delta, who were subsequently forced to work alongside the POWs. This shift in status from being tolerated immigrants to an enslaved population described in Exodus 1:8 may represent the transition from the Hyksos period to the eighteenth Dynasty. It's also true that the practice of using forced labor for building projects is only documented for the period 1450 to 1200, the very time most biblical historians place the Israelites in Egypt. The realization that there were others enslaved along with the Hebrews may explain who the "mixed multitude" of Exodus 12:38 are who joined the "freedom train."

2020.06.02 21:10 psyzygy128 The Wow Signal From Space: "6EQUJ5"

The Wow! signal represented as \"6EQUJ5\".
"The Wow! signal was a strong narrowband radio signal received on August 15, 1977 by Ohio State University's Big Ear radio telescope in the United States, then used to support the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. The signal appeared to come from the direction of the constellation Sagittarius and bore the expected hallmarks of extraterrestrial origin." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal
"Six" is equal to "JFive", both are English Ordinal: 52 (312)
"Wow Signal" English Ordinal: 123
"Six Equ J Five Eleven One" English Ordinal: 244, expands to 1464
"Sagittarius" (direction it came from): English Ordinal 144, expands to 864. Is equal to "Room One O One" (of 1984 fame)
244, 144, as I post this the sub has 488 members.
Maybe it's about Area 51 (A,1 + 51 = 52). You seen this it's pretty dang spooky.
edit: forgot to add about the date. August 15 1977. 8+15 = 23. 19+77 = 96. 2396 is "Crown Virus Nineteen" in Jewish Gematria (1488 in Extended English. (248*6))
another edit: "SETI" = English Ordinal 53, one off from 52.

2020.05.12 15:13 CherubielOne The humans do not have a hive-mind

So the humans were spreading through the stars. Faster-than-light engines were actually not that big of a deal. Well - the first time crossing that barrier was spectacularly hard, but now we knew how to do it. There were many, many stars that we visited. Turns out, habitable planets and even planets with an ecosystem of life are not really rare. We found a lot of them just in our little side-arm of the galaxy. And our exploration ships are still out and about. There was quite the backlog for the scientists that follow in their wake and an even longer one for the shipyards that just could not churn out colony ships fast enough. It was a remarkable period of history happening for that generation of humans.
Pushing into outer space the most eager always were the tiny and fast ships of the SETI program. For all of those incredible forms of animal life we had encountered so far, the species we had found living on those life-rich worlds were unimaginably stupid. Nearly classified as plants kind of stupid. A housefly would flatten the most complex of them in a game of chess kind of stupid. There was nothing that could communicate, or even form the inkling of a communicable thought. Not even some simple comprehensible intelligence that could at least react to us in some meaningful way.
Two days ago (Earth days of course - always Earth days) that changed. Big time. We received electromagnetic signals travelling the void between some two systems. We found their source and sent every kind of greeting we could think of on the way there. And we not only received an answer, but began communicating. Simple beeps and boops of course, at first. The smartest humans were pining over those signals and messages, trying to translate and interpret them, and simultaneously figure out a way to make our noises understandable. They failed. Though there is always another party in a conversation and luckily for us, they did not fail. So the humans got an invitation.
One human, a non-aggressive ship. And a specific location outside our known space where they would await us.
Since it sounded extremely risky and very much like a trap, it actually took a couple of seconds before the SETI program was utterly overwhelmed with applications by volunteers. One human was pronounced ambassador as quickly as possible to stem the madness, thrown into an exploration ship that was mostly automated and then slung into the general direction of our hopefully soon-to-be-friends.
Following these directives brought the exploration ship to an empty part of space - the nearest star lightyears away. At first, nothing else seemed to be there and only after the ambassador re-ran the sensor sweep, another ship was picked up. It's signature was tiny, making it nearly invisible. She sent the prepared greeting and promptly received back an answer - an approach vector and an invitation to come aboard.
---
The ambassador sat on what could pass as a stool before a window that parted the room. On the other side that had a much deeper floor stood a member of the sapient alien species. It was at least six times her height and towered over her. As far as she could discern, it sat on a single appendage not unlike a snakes tail but stubby and thick as a tree trunk. The upper body slimmed slightly to what probably was the torso and then steeply curved into broad shoulders where it had two arms that could probably reach the floor if they weren't in a mantis pose. There were another two pairs of shorter and thinner appendages hanging from the torso below the shoulders that had very fine three-digit manipulators on their ends - that was relatively speaking, these hands would've easily be big enough to pick up a human. At the very top was the head hanging on a bent neck, which could've been called snake-like as well, though it was all wrong. Too broad and flat, no visible mouth and two pairs of fully black eyes on the sides. There was no way to tell if it was wearing clothes, the flat grey colour entirely featureless. Practically the same as the walls around her.
Taking in these details, she had already forgotten about the device she had picked up from the chair and curiously inspected before the wall had suddenly become transparent. It was a palm-sized disc with an entirely smooth and unbroken beige surface. The material felt warm to the touch, though the significant weight made her believe it was made from metal.
"Greetings", an emotionless voice chirped from the unknown device that turned out to be obviously be a translator. The voice did not fit the massive size of those aliens, it sounded more like a badly recorded child speaking with distorted blabber running in the background. At the same time the alien behind the glass slowly turned its head to point its eyes at her in a gaze that felt like a stadium spotlight.
She immediately forgot the standard welcome message she was supposed to deliver and replied while seemingly shrinking: "Hello?"
"Your ship. Is mathematically incorrect", the device chirped.
"My - what?"
"Your ship. Is mathematically incorrect."
This was a strange start of relations, and that translator device might be useless altogether. But at least she managed to compose herself to begin anew and by protocol.
"I am ambassador Neil and I am being sent to represent all humankind. I come with a message of peace and the will to establish a bond of friendship between our species and our worlds so that we may learn from each other and grow together in sharing our knowledge. In the-"
"Why is it incorrect? Your ship?"
She eyed the translator. After a brief moment she spoke: "I do not understand your question about my ship."
"Why did you build it? Like this design? Your ship?", no movement from the alien being. Even if she could read its body language, there was no way to tell if it was curious, annoyed or critical. The emotionless artificial voice did not help either and was harder to understand through more of that background noise.
What kind of question was that? Ambassador Neil did not build the ship and she knew next to nothing about spaceship engineering. Though that alien vessel was very exotic in design from what she had seen on her approach. Curves and fluid, round shapes dominated its form that had the silhouette of an elongated disc with bulbous extrusions on the flat areas. There was no way of telling which was front or back, no breaks in the surface for engine outlets, windows, lights or sensors. It looked more like an art piece than a spaceship and the insides had not been any different. The corridor that had led her from the docking area to this room was unbroken as well. Walking through it she had taken in the soft off-white colour of the floor that transitioned fluently up the curved walls into a dark grey on the ceiling that had a soft wavy structure. Though it was pleasantly bright, there was no visible lighting source. Or anything else besides the bare surfaces.
The smaller human exploration vessel looked embarrassingly clunky in comparison. Was that what did the alien being want to express?
"The ship was built along well established design principles. It is a functional vessel made for long distance exploration. May I ask a name with which I can address you?"
It lifted one of its four smaller arms to point at her, again in a very slow motion. The translator sprung into action after it was finished: "This object. Two objects. They are. Exactly the same."
It took her a moment to gather what it was probably talking about. On her white all-purpose pressure suit were shoulder ribbons, old style ones made from a textile weave, adorned with brightly dyed yarn to form several differently coloured stripes. And they were symmetrical. Maybe this was something light to talk about, so she took them off and laid them onto her forearm side by side.
"These are insignias that indicate my function as an ambassador. All humans in official functions carry clear identifying markers with them, though these are also ceremonial and their design dates back far into our history."
It still was pointing, and the strong gaze was unbroken. "How did you build it? The insignias? Exactly the same?"
It took her a moment to form a reply: "I don't know how they are made. I think there is-"
"How? Do you? Not know?", the translator spoke louder than before. Maybe it only seemed louder because the being had leaned markedly closer to the glass.
Ambassador Neil shifted on the stool. This was not at all how it was supposed to go. She had no idea what the alien was going on about. Maybe it was not a representative of their species? Maybe this was an interrogation? Or maybe they just made a big mistake trying to do a face-to-face meeting this early after the first communications.
---
This meeting was going badly and she was flustered, which she was luckily able to hide. At least Nyarn'Enth-Hep hoped that she was. First that human had been even smaller than she had planned for, the little thing now awkwardly sitting on the pedestal for the translator. And then Nyars light-hearted curious questions seemed to completely fail to break the ice. But it truly was strange - the human was strikingly beautiful and their ship was decidedly not. It was a pointy wedge that aggressively rejected the flow of space and the physical forces therein.
Of course the last thing had shocked her the most, the human apparently did not know how these adornments they were wearing themselves were made. Still, Nyar had to admit they were magnificently built - exactly the same down to every measurement she could discern. Maybe it was different for hive-minds with that piece of shared knowledge at the moment unavailable to this human?
Nyar thought up some pleasant diplomatic words of the human language and formed the thought at the translator: "I just want to re-state that the insignias are beautiful and well made. Please excuse my curiosity on their construction, I did not want to overstep. Perhaps you can help me understand your fascinating biology more instead. I would like to know about your means of communication through a shared consciousness. How are you able to connect to each other over stellar distances?"
Then she waited for the translator to create those air vibrations that were the humans way of exchanging information over small distances, quite efficient too as it needed next to no energy and simultaneously worked between great numbers of individuals. Though it was a bit simpler than just transmitting thoughts and so likely offered less bandwidth for substance.
The translated reply was overlaid with slight confusion - seemingly the normal state of that human - and a short explanation of quantum entanglement ship-to-ship communication. But that was not what Nyar wanted to know. She suspected the translator to be not accurate, even though she had been very proud of how she had made it, at least in the beginning. "Thank you very much for the explanation on your ship-to-ship communication technology. I am afraid I have not understood how it ties into your inter-human communication. Could you please elaborate on how you communicate between humans outside the range of your voices?"
This time the overlay of confusion was so strong that it was everything that came back.
"I am sorry for having been too vague and I will try to explain it from my point of view. Since your arrival and at this moment I cannot measure signals of any kind coming from you or being transmitted to you. Judging from your position of representing all humans and your current awareness you are obviously still tied into the shared consciousness. This information I only want to know so I can ensure my earlier promise of no harm coming to you in my presence. My least desire is cutting you off from your collective because of my ignorance."
More confusion and the polite inquiry to elaborate. Using this indirect way of exchanging information was very tiring on her mind and this meeting was on a good pace to outlast Nyars previously longest. Carefully she put together more phrases, but her curiosity and slight frustration got the better of her for a split second.
"How does your hive-mind work?", she then inquisited bluntly and too fast to stop herself.
The human luckily did not appear to be disgusted from her directness and even seemed to understand this question better. There was no confusion attached to the reply and they flatly stated that humans were no hive-mind and this one was an independent individual.
But that could not be. How could a being that tiny possess a nervous system complex enough to communicate intelligently, let alone create technology to traverse space? What then, was the benefit of them being so many? With a thought she locked down the meeting room with a full spectrum communication blockage field - a safety measure she had implemented for emergencies and not planned to actually use. Incredibly, she noted no change in the human. So it truly was a contained unit, independent from a shared consciousness. Nyar was perplexed and again let slip a thought.
---
The disc in her hands chirped: "Impossible. You are. Too small." This time she thought to hear some emotion from it - baffled incredulity.
Ambassador Neil stood up instinctively, drawing herself to her full height - she was at least two hand widths above average height. Adding her oftentimes unruly curly hair that might've even been three. With difficulty she got back into a diplomatic mindset and asked: "There may be some misconceptions on both of our sides. Please help me understand the relationship between size and intelligence and how it regards to your perception of human biology."
A full minute went by, where the big solid black eyes just stared. Then the translator sprung into action to say, nearly intelligible through even more distorted and louder noise: "Brain big. Intelligence high."
This was an exercise in frustration with these short and nearly pointless answers and questions. To top it off, the translator device seemed to be on a process of breaking down, if speech clarity was any indication.
Neil pushed back the urge to begin pacing up and down the room to help her think better and gave herself a couple breaths before saying: "I am sorry, but I do not understand your motivation in this current exchange and I would suggest, to ensure future relations, that I return to my ship momentarily and-"
"How did you build? Your ship?", the voice was clearer again, the distortion having returned to a minimum.
"I did not build it."
"Did you build? Your coverings?"
For a moment she looked down at the hard exterior of the suits chest-plate that housed the collapsible helmet and an ample source of air and power. Her whole body was covered in the segmented semi-flexible suit as that was made to fit her exactly. It definitely was her suit, but she did not make it. The same could be said of the ship she had come in - it had been modified to transport only her. She had the hazy beginning of a conclusion.
"I did not build any of the equipment I have with me", she paused to take a breath, "Did you build your ship yourself?"
---
What kind of question was that? How else was Nyar supposed to travel through space? Her frustration already ran high because of the misunderstandings before. This was so very confusing with the human clearly wearing protective apparel that fit their body and movements to seemingly optimal precision and them claiming to not having build it. It obviously did not grow on a tree. Nyar was completely at a loss and she could not wrap her mind around how anything worked with those humans. Coupled with that was her whole body beginning to ache because she was standing polite for so long.
"Yes, I am the maker of my ship", she thought as a short answer. It even sounded wrong. Who else would make her ship?
The prompt reply came overlaid with excitement, which she couldn't make sense of. The human now wanted to know if she had used her hands to make it? Nyar nearly twitched. She did not think the inquiry from before could be outdone, and now came this. What an utterly nonsensical question.
---
"Yes", came in the clearest tone yet.
Just so she could be absolutely sure, she added: "Do you have machines that build ships?"
She saw more movement from it this time. It shifted and then turned its head to look at her with the other pair of eyes, though it was the same scrutinizing glare.
"A machine. Cannot build."
Now Neil could not stop herself from pacing any more. The alien being was huge and more massive than any land creature on Earth. If size truly equated intelligence and it was not only sapient, but able to build a spaceship and a fully functioning - albeit seemingly limited - interspecies translator by hand, the latter one a mere two days within first hearing of humans, it must be exceptionally intelligent and skilled in all types of crafts. Neil did not know how the ship worked she was using, someone else did. Well, there probably was no single person in the world that knew how all of its individual components operated in detail. So the humans actually were some type of hive-mind in comparison.
If this alien species had no complex machines, they had no computers. The implication was mind-boggling. She had millions of questions that went far beyond diplomatic purpose. Maybe the first step was to create some more understanding. The ambassador opened her hand that had unconsciously closed tight around the insignias she had taken off earlier. Carefully she straightened them and laid them out on her forearm again.
"These insignias were designed by several humans together. And they are exactly the same, because they were built by a machine."
The alien first shifted backwards, and then slumped down to support its upper body onto the larger arms. It moved its head down onto her eye-level and as close to the transparent wall as possible.
"Tell me. More."

2020.05.09 17:09 batlaxe9 Time based events

I’ve had this game for about a week, and I really enjoy the concept and how it simulates the SETI program out west (US). However, I find progress to be extremely slow. I’ve looked up this topic before in the web and it appears that story/event signals are, for the most part, time locked, i.e. they only appear on certain days and at a certain hour on that day. What I’m failing to understand is exactly what is meant by “time” locked events: time as in game time, or time as in real time? It seems that the date on the status screen never changes and stays consistent with the PC’s time, regardless of how many times you sleep and go into the next in-game day. So does this mean that if I miss a story/event signal, I have to wait an ACTUAL month? That just seems odd to me. Any clarification would be extremely helpful!
